Skyrim, Bethesda, and the BBB

37 complaints in the last 3 years and they got an F?

Electronic Arts... 775 complaints in the last 3 years, and they're rated an A+.

I think that proves how the BBB's rating system is flawed.

Zenimax/Bethesda isn't paying off the BBB for an A rating. Good on them.

Right. For a gauge of how reliable the BBB rating system is, look up "Electronic Arts Inc." and see their rating. Then laugh.

Also, look up "Microsoft" and "Wal Mart (Headquarters)." If you aren't giggling at the sold out ratings, then you have no sense of humor.

From what I've heard, what matters more to the BBB is the resolution. Or lack thereof.

My parents had some big issues with a particular company and were surprised to find out it had an A, especially after we learned their problems were not uncommon. But after months of jumping through hoops, changing stories and endless headaches and and angry phone calls, it was resolved as it should have been. So the company gets an A.

In that light, while it may be that EA gets a lot more complaints, they're able to resolve them in a satisfactory manner. Bethesda, on the other hand, does not.

In theory it's basically a mark for how well a company responds to a complaint. They use a super duper secret calculation (has this company donated to us) to determine it's score. This score is then as useful as a comb is to a bald man with no imagination.

For those that don't know, the BBB will take a complaint about a company, and take your input to that company, and then try to get a resolution that satisfied both sides (obviously the complainant has a big stake in this). The company should care because this could put a stain on their reputation, and a lot of these complaints are now publicly available on the internet.

It's not like they take your input and say thanks, don't call us. Of course, some BBBs are better than others, but the system works to some extend (I discovered this from personal involvement in a complaint to the BBB.)

The other problem is, when they take your input and go to the company, and the company blows them off, it basically stalls there and doesn't end in a resolution that satisfies the complainant (again, personal involvement.)

Their system is as buggy as Bethesda's games! Oh the irony!

Ratings depend on whether or not the complaint was taken care of and the solution satisfies the complainant. If the company ignores the BBB complaint, their rating will suffer.

EA has an A+. Bethesda has an F. I wonder which company actually works towards resolving issues with their customers? Yup...you got it. The one with an A+ rating.

Well, I can follow a website and some game forum commandos or I can go from my personal experience. Bethesda will have my money again.

It's all about perception.

Software developers, gaming related or not, score low all across the board all the time because even though many many people use software in their daily lives, they literally have no idea what goes into making the software and expect products with absolutely zero faults in it, which is IMPOSSIBLE. Every piece of software has issues for some one. Another perceived negative is a lack of communication between the developer and consumer. I've visited game development studios (not Bethesda itself, but others) and things are extremely hectic just before and months after a release. They are EXTREMELY busy, and don't necessarily have the time, nor may they be allowed to disclose specific trade secrets, to be posting tweets about what's going on every minute of every day they are working on something.

If stamping out bugs was as easy as the masses of gamers out there believe, do you honestly think that these developers wouldn't go and flick the switches from "buggy" to "perfect?" Get real.

This doesn't seem to be a thread for H&S problems or suggestions.
Closed as off topic.
Folks if you want to call BBB go for it, but don't discuss it here.
