Does the NCR into combat ever

Post » Fri Dec 16, 2011 12:50 am

I was hiking to McCarren Airfield earlier and i See the huge walls then NCR troopers standing infront of them now cover or anything . Why the hell did the BoS relieze being on groud level to fight enemies was a bad idea . yet NCR thinks lets put my troopers up against the Wall ( in both ways ) instead of on a high observation point

tey put their men to execution stances or inside ruins away from support instead of on the wall with sharp shooters

NCR does have snipers in the towers around the airfield.

What I would like to know is why doesn't NCR or any other faction have mounted heavy machine guns, in towers or bunkers made of sandbags and such like this http://www.project610.com/files/concept04c.jpg

You like that concept art, don't you :P
It would be good to see those from place to place like at heavily fortified places like McCarren or Nelis.

It would probably make the game too easy in favor of the NCR and player if the player choose to side with the NCR faction during an NCR related quest.

Or it's Gamebryo and adding in mounted heavy machine guns would be more trouble than it's worth.

Hell people mention the NCR building bunkers with the concrete from Quarry Junction and we never see those. I think we'd be foolish to assume any faction's ingame appearance accurately reflects their military capabilities in lore.

Same reason we can't have mass Vertibird mombing runs (more of a FO3 thing), cars/trucks, better animations, etc.

I could go on.

It's not just NCR that should have heavy weapons like 50 cal machine guns or M60s mounted to defend locations. I don't get why every town out in the wasteland doesn't at least have one. Fallout 2 is full of automated defences that are very powerful. New Vegas and Fallout 3 have crappy laser turrets at best defending towns.

One of the Reasons why I like Fallout Tactics, is it's realistic in the defence of towns (more so as you get more into the game). There are heavy machine guns and people well armed patrolling around. People in towers, mine fields, as well as other traps.

They do it as a "deterrent" to other forces. But you'll notice that the Fiends don't listen.

speaking of Fiends, after killing 3 out of 4 fiends, the last one was trying to run away and hide, finally caught up with him and he just stands there doing nothing but staring at me with the usual dialog "you like the sight of your own blood ?", doesnt even bother trying to attack me, even if i walk right into him, i would have expected unarmed fighting from him, this must be intended as its happened to me way more than once, perhaps skill related or something ? - i must say, the detail they did on these characters is great, even yellow scummy looking teeth with an evil smile ;D
