Why Do You Support Your Faction?

I wouldnt neccassarily say democracy was the fault of the War, I'd say it was more the Resource Wars and America's sabatoging China's oil rig over the last reserve of untapped oil that sparked things off. So in many ways, yes America is to blame, but I'd say the blame lies on politicians in power, not the system itself. (I dont support democracy, but whatever)

It's not the deomcracy aspect that I'm saying is the cause. NCR emulates more than than just that. They also don all the negative aspects of the old world as well. Rampant corruption, the "rich=powerful" lifestyle etc.

And there I can agree. Someone said we bash NCR because we want to bash IRL America, which simply isnt true. NCR's government emulates all the problems that comes from a system that revolves around love of money and power and position. A man like House, there is only one man running the business, House. But in NCR, you have senators being run with more strings by Brahmin Barons than 1930's NYC politicians had from La Cosa Nostra. NCR's little guy is fighting the good fight, the problem with it's system is that the big guys, the guys sitting in their cushy offices in Shady Sands are running by the dollar. It's why I so strongly support a House victory. NCR wins at the Dam, they just lose control of it, which gives NCR the slap on the nose they need. I'd like to imagine with Kimball and Oliver being flushed out, and the possibility of Chief Hanlon entering politics, NCR would clean house and install people who have good intentions for their future. I have a love hate attitude to NCR. Hate the system, love the intentions. It's why I do all I can to support them without directly supporting an NCR dam victory.

I'm a fairly conservative guy in the real world, so I gravitate towards the NCR if I have to be allied at all. Everyone should get a fair shake at the start of their life, but if you want something you need to work for it. The Legion kills senselessly, and House seems a bit too...wild card-ish for my tastes, like whatever suits him best is what's going to happen.

At least the NCR is founded upon the ideal I hold closest.

This.

I'm strongly humanitarian, progressive, and anti-authoritarian in RL, so that translates into a hatred for Caeser and a dislike for NCR's 'because we say so' vibe. I don't see any conflict of interest between the Followers and House, and in fact, it's ideal. Robots do any necessary violent work, putting people out of harm's way. I am under the impression that NCR forcibly drafts some people. Even if they don't, it's still a system corrupt with problems. It's irritating, but not enough for me to actively make them fail.

I am irritated at House's forcing people out of the Vault and filling it with concrete. But not enough to deliberately work against him.

Caeser's Legion needs to be eradicated like a disease.

I've already explained why my house character supports house. I'm probably going to end up doing the "Four Couriers" thing, one for each faction.

I'm going to be making another attempt at a legion character - this one a former NCR citizen who believes that losing the Mojave will inspire the NCR to replace it's leadership, hopefully with someone less corrupt. And while Caesar consolidates his gains, the NCR should be able to pull itself back together. If not, well, the rule of the wasteland is survival of the fittest. The Legion probably won't last without Caesar Edward - so a more long-term solution needs to be found.

My rough plans for an Independent character is a born rebel, a minarchistic individual who finds the kings' philosophy appealing more than any major faction. And my NCR Character, well, I haven't really thought about that. I know i'm going to be doing a bad karma low-Int NCR playthrough, but as for what else, I'm not sure.
