Why do spells have no duration?

Post » Fri Dec 16, 2011 12:11 am

This has always boggled me in most games why does everything last 2 seconds? ( ok I am exaggerating but still)
There is absolutely no fun in having to repeatedly recast anything.
is it for balance purposes? (neither the armor or bound weapon spells have any benefit over the regular counterparts)
The light spell is the only one I can sorta forgive because you can't disable it afterwords...

I was thinking that but in hindsight neither the cast weapon or armor beat the regular version. (cloth does weigh a lot less however there is perks to alleviate that meaning that the heavy armor weighs even less.)

I wish a lot of the spells had a duration. I think its a part of the "balance". Bethesda has just butchered the entire magic system in Skyrim.

They've always been that way. Heck in Morrowind a lot of spells had a base duration of like ... 10 seconds.
