A word of warning...

Post » Thu Dec 15, 2011 2:49 pm

Hi.
I am sure this has been mentioned before somewhere in the forum, but i thought i would bring additional information about it to everyone's attention again in better detail.
If you have any companion(s) with you, they have weapons of any type in their inventory and they enter any casino on the strip with you, once your companion(s) exit, those weapons will be gone. (yes, we all know this)
I have read about this on in the forums here, but i thought making the companion wait outside in the strip or at the north gate or even in a totally different area would solve the glitch, obviously it did not as it still happens.
The only way is to remove the weapon(s) from their inventory or dismiss them either to the Lucky 38 or their shacks (if they have not been upgraded from a quest).
Also, if any companion has been upgraded from a quest, they lose those upgrades after exiting the casino as well, so removing the weapon(s) from their inventory wont matter at all.
Best suggestion: Dismiss them to the Lucky 38 before you enter any casino.
I found this out 4 hours after the fact when i realized ED-E's weight decreased from 5 to 1 (lost the upgrades from a quest) and Raul's full maintenance perk was working like the regular maintenance perk (weapons were degrading slowly).
Perhaps the additional info i posted here will help (if it already hasn't been posted), but i will say that besides the bugs, glitches, freezing and frame rate issues this game suffers from (on the PS3), that this is the most annoying glitch in the whole game, especially if you are not aware of it.
Thank you to the original poster who helped all of us become aware of it.

I've had this bug only once in Gomorrah. Even more often my companions don't lose equipment at all - very useful for certain casino quests.

I'm guessing the glitch has different severity levels depending on what machine its being played on.
The glitch appears to be severe enough on the PS3 for me (and extremely annoying).
What bugs me the most is that any of the companions having been upgraded from a quest will lost the upgrade with this glitch.

The Gomorrah has stripped weapons from even my dismissed companions at the Lucky 38. Before OWB it happened at the other Casinos occasionally but never stripped my dismissed companions. After I got OWB (in tow with HH and DM) only Gomorrah presented an issue as to weapons.

That is interesting.
I have all the DLC's including OWB for the PS3 installed but didn't have the issue you described when i entered Gomorrah with Raul & ED-E dismissed to the Lucky 38, perhaps its with certain companions ?
Either way, my suggestion is to save before you enter any casino and do lots of testing to find out if any weapons & companion upgrades are being stripped.
Oh, I'm sure everyone knows this, but if you enter any casino without being prompted to remove weapons, your companion(s) don't get stripped of them and/or lose their upgrades.
There is only one word that can rhyme with this bad bug perfectly...... "This Glitch is a B_tch!"
I really should have gotten this for the PC, but its more convenient to play on a console.

PC FTW! And another warning that we all know of, NEVER give a companion a unique weapon, since when it breaks they drop it.

I thought that was a glitch limited to only a few weapons like Oh Baby ?

Nope, they will drop any weapon that breaks and draw a new one if available. Their inherent weapons do not degrade however any that you give them do, so you have to check them every so often and repair as needed.

Now if only you could use WRK's on companions like you can stimpacks...

one of the reasons i enjoy using Raul as a companion.
given weapons to him barely seem to degrade, especially when he has the full maint. perk.
having ED-E to constantly produce more ammo on the go is an additional perk to Raul since he uses ammo up quite generously.

Likewise.

Ive entered into each of the casinos with each comp at least once and this has never happened to me. Does it happen due to the DLC? Because if its due to the DLC then no wonder because I have none of the DLCs

Im on the 360
