Cash at MP game start

Post » Thu Oct 29, 2009 7:54 pm

I was able to play after the last patch for a while, but now when I join a multiplayer game it crashes about a second after loading and I've joined the game. It was running fine before, in fact better than ever after the patch. I have an ATI Radeon HD 4600 series card and everything else is at or above minimum requirements. Like I said, I have run and played the game for a while before this started.

Roll back your drivers. Especially if you got the Hotfix. Go to computer right click and select manage then click on Device Manager and then select Display Adapters and click Roll Back this is only if you have installed the HotFix. If you haven't and are still getting the problem then there is something else not driver related so for good measure download DriverCleanerPro and wipe your driver by selecting the driver and cleaning twice then restarting and then update to the latest driver without the hotfix after that you know its not driver related.

Only other option is reinstall the game as well (your saves will be safe) and check if all files are valid (if playing on steam).

That is the wrong way to roll back an ATI driver because he most likely has the whole Cataclyst suit installed not just the driver itself.

Besides he didn't say that he updated his graphic drivers in any way , he just mentioned that before the game patch his game worked fine but now it doesn't. If anything his using some old drivers and should update.

The catalyst has very little affect on most driver issues thats why you can have a 2 year old catalyst with new drivers you just cant activate some options.
I am giving him this advice because it happened exactly like that to me.

That's an understatement and it's why programs like Driver Sweeper and so on exist in the first place. People get feeded false and incorrect information and then when their system drops down to the performance point of an old Pentium computer they come running in looking for help cause they can't run their game past 25 fps or it starts randomely crashing , ironic hint > this thread.

I'm sorry if I come off as a bit cruel but I just hate to see people offer false information as the correct solution, despite the fact that they just want to help. I'm glad that people want to help others but at least do me the favor of verifying your facts before offering them to the less knowledgable person seeking your help.

Not being a [censored] just some corrections that were annoying me.

I cant see anything that i have said that is false. Most people have screwed up their game too far for most things to work and they dont resort back to a fresh install to try new things because they have to download it all again.
They should wipe their game (their saves will be safe) and then do my fix and if that doesn't work its their computers fault not the game or the drivers as it works for atleast 95% or more now.

Well, I didn't update or change any drivers, so to stop getting cash crashing at the start of multiplayer games I think I'll try verifying my local files through Steam. Since making this thread I've been able to play. It seems it might have been one particular map or something about trying to play as security. Not sure what. I was able to play as security once too so I'm suspecting the former more, but I wasn't sure the crash happened on just the one map.

Then you should update your drivers to 11.5 jsut not the hotfix. And most likely a fresh install.

I'm just going to skip that juvenile remarks, clearly that's all you got to offer and I assume that you still haven't opened up your favorite web browser and checked as to why it's not a very good or reliable idea to use the Windows driver roll back function while using the Catalyst suit, especially in the original poster's situation?

Problem is its not an "all the time" problem, but its enough that its annoying and potentially game breaking for people trying to play together for more then a single round.

Point being its a game problem. Rolling back video drivers isn't the solution.

Juvenile remarks? Where? Correcting spelling in a non dike head way and subtly is maturity and helpfulness.
I did actually have a look and i can see no issues relating to it.
Realistically the only issues that could happen are the usual: not cleanly installed/uninstalled, registry errors, no proper driver cleaning especially if switching Nvidia to Ati. etc. etc. etc.

So unless you can actually post a real reason; my fix should still work for all healthy Ati running comps to do with the crashing issues.
If they have uninstalled brink. Wiped their drives using DriverCleanerPro then reinstall 11.5 not the hotfix then install the game and if there is still an issue.

They should go to "*:\Steam\userdata\********\22350\local\base" and create a autoexec.cfg file (make sure its not autoexec.cfg.txt by saving as "any file" rather than ANSI file type)
and then add these in there.

seta com_allowConsole 1
seta com_bootLogo 0
seta r_useThreadedRenderer 2
seta s_numberOfSpeakers *
seta com_videoRam *

replace the stars with numbers accordingly.

Thats not how you roll back a driver. Go to computer right click and select manage then click on Device Manager and then select Display Adapters and click Roll Back this is only if you have installed the HotFix. If you haven't and are still getting the problem then there is something else not driver related so for good measure download DriverCleanerPro and wipe your driver by selecting the driver and cleaning twice then restarting and then update to the latest driver without the hotfix after that you know its not driver related as thousands if not tens of thousands of people are going completely fine.

Also on MP we have a cap at 30fps anyway for fair combat.

Anyone needing a roll back, make sure you are following these directions, if you remove through programs removal you aren't removing every part of your previously installed driver and if you have been doing this for a while, you probably have some conflict issue somewhere with your drivers. IF you were to use the program removal tool, just make sure you follow up with DriverCleanerPro to remove existing bits that the uninstall didn't remove.

Thanks,
Sinn

Worked for me. I was literally having the exact same problem as this. As for Nvidia i have no idea. Though it may still be drivers. Trial and error. Clean drivers (even sound) reinstall then wipe brink then reinstall and then run.
Still buggered? wipe drivers and install older ones. Still buggered? reinstall brink again.
Either that or get some sort of crash anolysis tool or find the crash files in the brink folders.
