Nirnroot glow doesn't disappear when I harvest it!

I hope this isn't the beginning of some unexplained graphical problems on my end. Also been noticing like 10 minutes ago that when I'm walking around, places get, brighter? Ok that one's hard to explain, I'll just focus on the nirnroot problem for now. Playing on high (recommended) and never had this problem before til now. I hope it isn't a product of patch 1.3?

No, it's not a 1.3 side-effect. I play unpatched and I see this all the time.

Just imagine that the nirnroot affects the reality around where it used to grow. Or something.

It's that special ... :rolleyes:

Lighting is just bad all around, most lights are obviously static, candles are nailed to tables and won't go out even if you FUS RO DAH them.

Hopefully mods will be able to fix the lighting on PC, seems like it'd be a pretty big task though.

The "cumulative Nirnroot lighting effect" has been a known issue for some time, and is on the unofficial bug list in the PC Hardware & Software Issues sub-forum.

There are well over 500 bugs on the list now, and with Bethesda's current rate of solving 10 bugs per month, it could be as long as 2-4 years (or never) until lighting and shadow issues are addressed.

Oh I had no idea it was a well known bug. I googled "nirnroot glow not disappearing after harvesting" and not much showed up. Thanks though! Glad it's just not me.

No, at least for PC users.
This one and several others will be fixed as soon as the SDK will be released. It is a very simple issue, it is surprising it was not fixed in the patch already.

Forgot to ask this, and this thread seems the right spot so here goes;

Anyone seen nirnroot repsawn? While I cant be 100% certain, I am pretty bloody sure they are respawning in some locations for me. There is one in Darkstar Im sure ive picked up at least twice.

Well, yes, for those of us on PC most of the glitches and graphics issues will eventually be fixed.

They respawn just like any other plant. That's when you'll see the cumulative leftover lighting effects — the more you pick the same Nirnroot, the brighter and uglier the leftover lighting effects become. They "stack" on top of one another.

Lexandro, I'm fairly certain all plants respawn after a set time. This set time seems to vary, though, so I can't tell you how often this happens.

I'm absolutely sure I've re-harvested nirnroot in specific locations multiple times.

The roots keep the glow. Has nothing to do with 1.3
