For Morrowind players and those that understand Dunmer Lore

Post » Thu Dec 15, 2011 9:16 pm

It would fit Altmers and Bosmers better IMO , Dunmers were keen on glass armours in Morrowind and as someone said above , Ebony comes from Dvardenfell , it's extracted from the lava of the volcanic Red mountain

It always seemed like a sort of composite of all the dunmer armor in MW too me.

But that just MY opinion.

I'd love to see bonemold or chitin armor - why can we collect mudcrab chitin when we can't craft from it? Can't help thinking that chitin armor was intended to be in but didn't make the final cut.

I am hoping there will be something to that effect. I miss Ordinator armor lol. I would think with all the Dunmer refugees someone would grab some.

A quiver of arrows, or a war hound.

"What's grey and brown, and looks really good on a Dark Elf?"
"A hound."

I'm not rolling as a Dunmer right now, but my main Oblivion char is a Dunfemme... my Skynord is wearing Volsung, Ebony mail, Daedric gauntlets & boots.... looks awesome and i like breathing underwater.

I can remember only one NPC in Morrowind wearing daedric armor. He was an outler in more ways than one.

Not sure if the official lore backs me up on this, but in Morrowind (the game) people worshiped the Tribunal. Now that they're back to daedra worhship though, daedric armor might be a more fitting choice.

It's a shame there's not spillage of Dunmeri items from nearby Morrowind in Skyrim, especially with all the refuges because I feel the chitin based armors are the most clearly and uniquely Dunmeri (armors such as Chitin, Bonemold and Indoril). For what we were given though, I'd say ebony (minus the helmet, ebony mail instead of normal ebony cuirass) looks quite good on Dunmer, and Morrowind is where most of the ebony came from.

It is a shame to be sure. But they needed a stylistic break for the Nordic culture to get its time to shine I think. Still a few sets would have been nice and would have given new players a glimpse of the depth of this series.

I wonder about that. Can they still even mine Vvardenfell for Ebony and glass after what happened in TES 3 and the Red Year? Ebony and glass supposedly are products of Lorkhan's heart effecting the surrounding terrain of Red Mountain since creation began and Lorkhan's heart was torn out and tossed into Morrowind by the Aedra.

Very true. That's why I'd only want a few items from Morrowind, in places where the most Dunmer have settled in the east (i.e., you wouldn't just find Chitin armor in Whiterun, for example; you would have to go to the eastern cities and speak to the Dunmeri immigrants (like the shopkeeper in Riften who claims to sell good from Morrowind)).

You have no idea how much my hopes got raised and dashed when I heard that sentence in game lol.

I think Daedric armor looks pretty fitting on the Dunmer now that i think on it. Nothing is more fitting than bone-mold armors like Indoril and Chitin though imo.

I don't know about Vvardenfell during the TES 5 timeline, but there's at least two ebony mines in the province of Skyrim, one in each of the eastern holds of Riften and Windhelm (i.e. close to the western border of Morrowind). There's also at least one ebony vein (not in a mine) to be found in Skyrim (likely more, but I haven't explored that far), more in a central location. Glass isn't mined as a resource in TES 5 (as opposed to TES 3), but crafted from a combination of Malachite and Moonstone ores, of which there are also multiple veins/mines to be found.

Would depend on the type on Dunmer.

An ashlander would make his own armour from the things he hunted.
In Morrowind this was often chitin, in Skyrim you could wear fur or Falmer armour.

Someone from the great houses would wear more standard Empire armour. Depending on faction/ allignment and social position this can be anything from iron/ steel/ silver, armour to show allegiance such as Stormcloak, Imperial etc. The rich and highborn would wear glass/ ebony and possibly dragon.

None of the armors in skyrim look dummer at all. The reason is that they made their clothes from the hides of netch, guar, kagouti and cliffracer feathers. None of these animals live in skyrim. Some say ebony look dummer, but the blacksmiths of morrowind made theirs with golden ornaments and looked completely different from the ebony set of skyrim.
