Stuck in a dungeon for good

Post » Thu Dec 15, 2011 3:55 pm

OK i was wandering around SKYRIM and then i found the place called "Dead Man's Respite". I didn't have any quests specifically saying me to go there. I was just looting dungeons randomly. So i made my way through the place, killed dozens of creatures and in the end of the dungeon i found this http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Svaknir guy sitting in a room. He doesn't engage in any conversations when i press e because apparently he's there for a quest. Without getting that quest first he's useless to me.

And there's no way back out of the dungeon. I'm stuck. I'm sure there's a way out but it involves the aforementioned quest.

Bethesda shouldn't let players enter the dungeon without getting the quest first if there's no way out without it. Or if they let them, then they should have made another way out.

And you can't re-trace your steps and go back out the way you came? I've been in there many times with and w/o quests. I have not gotten stuck.

I think its likely a bug.
You will have to reload a save from before you entered the dungeon.
Please tell me you save regularly and in different slots?

After some point you have to jump down in a pool of water like 10 meters below. And i did jump there. Now i naturally can't climb back...

Is there any way you can glitch your way back up there using jumping and whirlwind shout?
I know people have found a way back into the Thalmor embassy by doing that.

You should have an auto saved game from when you entered the dungeon. You'll have to reload that, then simply turn around & get out :)

Try this... select an active quest outside your dungeon. Use the map to locate the quest arrow. Find a route to that arrow.

That would be for the quest, he said he was in there without a quest, so after jumping down that hole to get where he was, he was just stuck there.

pretty sure it is still there(item spawns no matter). I honestly can't remember 'twas 300+ hours ago.

now, I'm not going to say weather it will break the game if he/she picks up that particular item. I have quite a few things wrong with my main, all due to playing in a open world, not meant for you to play in, unless you have a guide-book and do some serious research on what is or isn't broken. and the possible outcomes when it does break.

Also depends on the type of quest. I picked up a quest item and now it's just stuck in my inventory and the quest giver won't talk to me now since I got the item prior to getting the quest, haha. I know the quest that's related to the dungeon he was in, I just don't know what would have happened if he picked it up without the quest

HAVE MORE THAN ONE SAVE.

Then you will be able to reset if you find a bug, very easy, common sense with a game which might have bugs.

Spoiler
If I recall correctly he ends up sitting in some room with a corpse and a book nearby (either on the corpse or somewhere in the near vicinity), read the book - I went there without having taken any quest or having any quest activated, I just followed him around when he first showed up. Once you read the book he'll open up a door that's sealed with a magic barrier (it's a glowy one)
