Who is going to play New Vegas instead of Skyrim?

Post » Fri Dec 16, 2011 2:12 am

Just curious, who plans on continuing to play New Vegas until the next Fallout comes out and not going to Skyrim?

I have temporary short bouts about contemplating playing Skyrim, and then I remind myself how much I hate elves, magic, and fantasy. If I played Skyrum, I would end up playing as a big dumb ass with a sword and there's only so much you can do with that, lol.
It's the same bouts that forced me to watch the first Harry Potter film and all three Lord of the Rings movies, causing me to put my finger down my throat, and thinking to myself "why in the world did I think it was a good idea to watch this?"

So I can say for certain I will not be buying Skyrim. I like the New Vegas lore too much to hang up my revolver.

lol, I feel the exact same way. We have the same taste I think. Im tempted to buy it sometimes cause Im sure it'll generally be a great rpg but then yea, I just know I'll regret it cause I dont care for fantasy. All those films left a bad taste in my mouth and I even fell asleep in the theatre while watching Lord of the Rings: Return of the King.

(Chance is that MW3 is going to outshine both of them, but I would never admit that here...)

Then shouldnt you be at a CoD forum spouting slogans like, "America, [censored] yea!"? :turned:

Yeah, your more like my Brother than my own Brother. My Brother and I have as much in common as a dog turd and a pterodactyl. We didn't talk much at his wedding on Sunday, lol.

I honestly never played an Elder Scroll game before, but I've been eyeing Skyrim with some interest.
Don't know whether I will get it straight away, but I'm going to get.

As for New Vegas I'm currently on LR with my current character and it's been a pretty long run, with all DLC and several mods. Once LR is behind me I'll probably finish up the main quest, shelve New Vegas and get back to my Steam back-catalog.

Same here! All of it! I started Lonesome Road last night and am loving it. It's got a cool Capital Wasteland theme to it. Hopefully I'll have it complete, plus the main quest, by next Friday, time permitting.

Then Ill start my very first Elder Scrolls game.

I don't care about magic or any of the stuff, the fantasy setting is more overdone then Zombies, and to be honest Skyrim does not look like a good RPG.

Ditto here. But I can't say its not a good RPG until I've actually tried it. That's why I am gonna roleplay as a big dumb ass with a big ass sword that kills all Elves, Fruity Magicians, Orcs, Lizard people, and any other garbage I find in there.

And then I will decide if the story is good and if its a good RPG. My expectations are pretty low, so it might surprise me, but then again I could end up playing it for 6 hours and never touch it again ever like I did with Oblivion.

Something that troubled me... How come there's a "neither" option, but not a "both" option?

I'll be playing Skyrim more often for the next few months, but I'll still go back to New Vegas every so often.

Well said. I think I can go as far as Zelda or Fable (the Lost Chapters) but that's it. I'll still play Skyrim though. I want to like it.

NV has pretty much run it's course for me already anyway, so I'll be happy to play Skyrim when it comes out.

Surprisingly even, considering this is the Fallout board. And the New Vegas board of those

Skyrim does look fantastic but I'm going with New Vegas, as:

(1.). I started off loving fantasy (Morrowind, Oblivion, Lord of the Rings Online) but since playing Fallout 3 I love the more grown up, brutal side of the Wateland.
(2.). You can use swords and things in Fallout, and magic has never really bothered me.
(3.). My laptop will probably self destruct if I try to play Skyrim.
(4.). I only play 1 game at a time, and I finished the main quest in Fallout 3 last night, so by the time I get through the DLCs and anything else of interest it'll be February and the New Vegas Ultimate Edition will be out.

I would love, absolutely love it, if Elder Scrolls took on more of Fallout's sense of humor. Like running into that dark elf who asks you about necrophilia in skingrad - I was kind of dissappointed that wasn't a bit more warped comedy in Elder Scrolls. Just a bit. Or more 'snark' dialog options.

Skyrim. I've pretty much played New Vegas dry. I have one, small, playthrough left to complete, and I could always start "collecting everything". But neither of those sound appealing

I'm not going to play Skyrim until there's a lucrative steam sale or the Skyrim ultimate edition with all DLC is released.

Sixty bucks for a TES game that won't have any good mods for months? Hell no. I learned my lesson with Oblivion.

So I'm going to be sticking with FNV and ME3 for my role playing fix.
