Leveling mod

Post » Thu Oct 29, 2009 1:44 pm

For quite a while I have used vanilla leveling, but I'm getting pretty tired of creating substandard characters because of the stupid system. Is there any mod which only slightly changes the vanilla leveling system, by always giving a +3 or 4 for all attributes at level up, instead of whatever you earned, and makes endurance retroactive, or am I going to have to make one? I've looked at leveling mods in the past, but they always change too much. Any ideas?

http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=14065 is a wonderful mod that I use that completely removes the leveling system as it stands, and levels you in real time.

nGCD is good I use it too but it doesn't level attributes by 3 or 4 points at a time, it only gradually increases them as you increase the skills dependant on them. The whole level screen where you raise your attributes has been scrapped and good riddance nGCD makes it way more realistic.

Play completely normally. When you level up, take the attribute gains you get for the attributes you want to increase. Then, open the command console and adjust those gains so they become +4s (or whatever). That is very minor, very effective and leaves you completely in control. Just a thought.

Another vote for nGCD. It makes leveling up happen completely in the background. I also use the original GCD for Morrowind. There is the Oblivion XP mod too, that changes the whole leveling system experience point based like in Fallout, though in my humble opinion that's a step backwards.

But if you simply want +4 of attributes, do what Acadian suggested. It should be pretty easy to script that sort of effect to automate it.

Record attributes before leveling up, after leveling up calculate current attribute - previous attribute. If remainder is less than four, add 4 - remainder points to attribute.

Realistic Leveling is another one.. It makes your attribute a function of your race and skills. Majors are weighted more heavily I believe. It also generally slows down leveling though you can set it for vanilla possibly.

What Acadian said: just use the console to adjust the attributes the way YOU feel the game should have. There is a mod out there that gives automatic +5's, sorry, don't remember what it's called - and I think that's a bit over the top - but three +3's or a +4 and two +3's is perfectly reasonable.
