Yes, several. One by just following the storyline.

They aren't like the house in Fallout 3 though, there are no themes for them.

Followers of the Apocalypse
Brotherhood
NCR Rangers
Caesar's Legion

They all have safehouses

There is a Hotel Room in Novac

There is the Sink that comes with the DLC, OWB.

As well as others.

Sir? May I recommend the atomic wrangler in lovley Freeside? I know Freeside gets a bad rap but honestly, we've had some incredible progress in recent years.

And the Atomic Wrangler is by far the best, the drinks are always cold and the people are always warm. And they have a Robot there you can have six with ...

There's a couple of places to own houses outside of the faction houses that you can get. I personally use Wolfhorn Ranch and I never had any problems with it.

You won't have a safe place to you can out right own in the first part of the game. In hard core mode this means you can't get the "Well Rested" experience bonus and can only get the full heal of crippled body parts by going to the Doc in Good Springs (any bed will still heal your sleep deprivation). The dumpsters next to the courier box at the store in Goodsprings are safe to store items in until you can find a place of your own.

The first place you can get a "owned" bed is in Novac at the Motel. The dialogue says you're renting it but 100 caps and you've essentially bought a room with a bed and safe storage containers that you never have pay any more money for.

Harper's Shack makes good player housing. It has a bed, workbench, reloading bench, plenty of storage, and it is fairly roomy inside. Your items do not disappear from the containers, so it is safe to store valuable items their. The only problems with it are it's proximity to Dead Wind Cavern, but as long as you stay away from that area you should be fine.

Try Victor's shack in Goodsprings. It has the basic necessities, the storage is safe, and since he can't fit inside, you've got it to yourself.

you don't actually own that place. when you sleep in a bed that you own, you become well rested and get 10% bonus when you kill something. sure there is lots of places where you can store stuff and sleep but you don't actually own them.
