I am the Thane of Whiterun. I have not chosen to use my Thane ability so far. For some reason, the other day a guard approached me but it gave me no Thane dialogue option. Anyone have a similar experience, or any information on this?

Probably you can only tell them to ignore a crime they witnessed but not to ignore Bounty accumulated in their district ?

Dealing with the guards is justt sckewred all over. I pickpocketed 15 gold and an amethyst and the guards wont show any mercy i tried yielding but they just cut me to pieces.
Im not sure about you but while i was thane of riften the guards attempted to arrest me, but i told them im thane bla blah. the guard said he was sry, turns around pulls his sword and the entire population begins attcking me.

I think it only works once. After that, they don't care.

You probably invaded Whiterun, and changed Its Jarl. Just speak to the new Jarl and he will rename you Thane.

I was siding with the Stormcloaks at first, since it was a Stormcloak who saved my life -- then, being an Argonian, I found out that they are racist towards my kind.

So I looked towards the Imperials and then recalled that even when I was not on the list for the execution, their attitude was to shrug and say, "eh, kill 'em anyway."

Not many good choices here.
