No trainers in Skyrim?

Post » Thu Dec 15, 2011 5:11 pm

I remember having the Fighter's Stronghold thingermabob from Oblivion, and I liked having that Orc to be a personal trainer. Why isn't there one in Skyrim? I'd rather pay a lump sum and be able to train whenever I want then have to fork over my life savings to train a skill by one level.

Anyone miss that?

There are trainers all over Skyrim, you just have to find them.

Also the companions are the "fighters guild" and you will find combat trainers in there.

Yeah, there are a ton of people around Skyrim that will train you in various skills for a sum of gold... just talk to people.

In one of the DLCs for Oblivion you could buy a sparring partner for your house, so you could train combat skills by actually using them against him.

That is what OP is referring to, not a trainer as such.

In one of the plug ins, you could buy an Orc trainer. You talked to him, told him what weapon to use and he would spar with you. Good way to increase all your skills. You bought him once, and you could train infinitely.

He's talking about the expansion pack. Once upgraded you had a guy in the armory that you had a speech option to spare with him.

Sadly, the closest thing you will get to the sparing partner in Skyrim is Conjuration. Cast a summon, kill it, repeat. It levels both Conjuration and whatever weapon skill you are using. Unfortunately, this may or may not fit into your play-style.
