Companion perks

Post » Fri Dec 16, 2011 4:05 am

Just can't find the answer to some general questions.

Companion perks, do these work if you ask your companion to wait somewhere, and then fast travel somewhere else?

Or if you somehow want to play alone with these perks.

And ED-Es perk "Enhanced sensors", I've read it's like having 10 perception.

But is there then any point to adding to high perception at all? Or what if you have 10 perception? Do ED-E increase on that?

I have been thinking of cutting down a lil on perception and adding some to strength instead.

yes, the perks stay with you if you tell your companions to wait.

-its more like having 20 Perception, 10 perception I have to travel a bit to see what it is. With Ed-e, its just incredible, with 10, you would probably have to travel far just to see what the enemy is (and then get annoyed it was just a bloatfly)

-if you want Ed-E with you, the answer is pretty much no, unless you want a high perception for those special conversations :hubbahubba: along with the bonus in lockpick, Energy Weapons, and Explosives.

in any SPECIAL, I would bring down Charisma to 1 or 2 to the least. It's a terrible stat simple as that, seeing as how Party Mentats and beer can increase it up to 7 (8 with the Charisma Implant), thus you can make your companions godly in just a snap of your fingers, along with the benefit with the Perk Chemist, you can have them buffed up even longer. Hell if your into combat armor or suits even, you can even send your Charisma to 9, nearly 10 which quickly tells you and hints to you that Charisma is not a SPECIAL to invest points in.

Though I have noticed that with my high perception I sometimes trigger stuff (which then happens far away from me and I can't see it)

Anyone else had this problem?

Will I also retain these perks when starting a DLC where I can't have companions?

Can't decide which perks are best.

Boone only gives Spotter, this one only works with iron sights? Or always when aiming.

I kind of like the bonus of Rex, since I would like weapons and ammo to be highlighted, armor as well in general I guess. But might not be so important.

ED-E enables you to target cloaked creatures in vats.

And Raul makes weapons decay 75% slower, that's a good one.

PS: Do reinforced spine count towards perks?

answer:

-no, when going to a DLC, you lose your companion perks and they go back to their usual spot :/
-depends, I rely on Veronic and ED-E for the ultimate c-c-c-c-combo breaker!
-Rex is one of the worst companions if not THE worst companion I ever saw. He dies pretty much easily against tough foes like Deathclaws or Cazadors :/

Rex doesn't highlight armor. It took me until last week when I brought him in my safehouse to notice that.

Also if you have Lonesome Road Veronica's perk is basically redundant, as Ed-E becomes a workbench/ammobench.

They should have given her another decent perk.

I never really use her for that, I just use her for her badass tanking ability while sending Deathclaws to their doom with Pushy (that or use Two-Step Goodbye). She's also great with Energy weapons and with power armor tanks in great hits.

well if your into a companion who can keep ranged enemies busy while you pick them off, then she's great. Got Deathclaw problems? give her a ballistic fist while you up your Charisma and she'll slay them flat out.
