I'm thinking about playing through new vegas for a 3rd time, this time for MR.House, although I might make an extra save and do some legion quests too...

HOWEVER ... I HAVE AN IDEA...

Perhaps I would make the ultimate diplomat charector, no OFFENSIVE, COMBAT SKILLS AT ALL!!!

Do you think this would be possible? Could I play the entire game without fighting anybody? I could maybe get Boone or ED3 early or maybe Arcade and Rex early. Maybe they can be my bodyguards as I try to make peace through out the wasteland, I like NCR's ending better than an independent vegas but there were still problems, maybe House would be better? Please don't tell me, I want to be suprised...

How awesome would that be if I could make it thorugh without violance, hoover damn would be an B word, but with House's robots, upgraded perhaps?

No reason for barter really, is there anything I should buy for non combative purposes?

Do I need repair? maybe to make scavanged weapons more valuable.

Yeah. Its completely possible.

However, some quests will obviously be more difficult (ones where you have to fight) and you'll have to tread carefully when roaming the wasteland without protection (companions).

However you'll be a master at passing non-combat skill checks.

Yeah its possible, but like the Lieutenant said there's going to be one or two quests that are going to be pretty hard. It'll probably be a pretty fun playthrough though, I've never done one like it myself but I've heard of other people doing it.

Not only is it possible, it's been done. I remember seeing a photo almost a year ago of a guy's stats menu showing 0 kills as he stood in the legate's camp. This was, however, before the DLCs.
The key is to get very high charisma and rely on a companion. A lot of confrontations can be avoided completely thanks to speech, and for the rest, use a companion.

The hardest part would be Dead Money and Lonesome Road, because those two are heavy on parts where sneaking would be difficult or you're completely on your own. I don't think there's a single situation in the game that forces you to kill, though.

I actually remember hearing about a guy a year or two ago who did it. It's entirely possible, but the only thing I'm wondering is how you would protect Kimball from the sniper on the tower behind him?

Answer: You don't. You find the bomb on the Vertibird and report it to Ranger Grant. Or you let the president die/complete Arizona Killer by programming the AA gun to explode or messing with Bear Force One's flight control.

To be honest, that's how I normally play... After all, the combat skills are the least interesting of all the skills. They don't normally get you new items or quest paths.
It's totally possible... just be ready to run away a lot and come back when you have uber equipment.

It's still quite possible... almost every quest and side-quest have a non-violent option... if he's sneaky enough.

Buy a lot of Stealth Boys. (You may get go insane like the nightkin, but that is a chance you must take.)

And with repair, you can upgrade Boone's (or other companion) weapon.
