I'm sure this has been asked before but....

(yes i did make a search for it and could not find my answer)

Will start playing NV again after a long break. Dl'ed a bunch of great mods (i don't have words to express my thanks to the modding community) but one thing is torturing my mind.
I was wondering the same thing when NV was released. And today while i was browsing in Nexus, i was almost had a heart attack when i saw no results for the word "poker".

I was certain that someone would have implemented it by now (with decent AI bots) but i couldn't find it. Please, tell me it's not true. Please tell me that someone, something out there... tell me there is.. hope... er...

Anyway, since the game was released i couldn't help but wander why poker was left out of the game. It's unthinkable, i know. Incomprehensible. Anyone has a rational explanation?
Is there an explanation to why the lifeblood of gambling, offering (obviously) infinite replayability and shockingly "real" immersion was not modded into the game? What do you think?

PS: No caravan is NOT the same game or a substitution.

No, to make a minigame like Blackjack, Slots, Roulette, or Caravan, you have to create an entirely new UI for the mini-game itself, IE AI to make random draws and cards and so on.

It's not a big deal it's not in the game. And from a modding PoV, there are far more worthwile prospects to make.

Poker's complexity is a whole different ballpark from blackjack.... and the more complex a game is, the more the AI is going to svck at it compared to the player. I'm guessing that's why it was left out. In-universe explanation - maybe poker didn't catch on in the post-nuclear world.

I'm not so bothered by it because I almost never play the gambling minigames anyway.

Me either, I barely play ever. Maybe once a play through, was poker/Texas hold em even invented back then?

You people are obviously not addicted (which is good).
As far as i know a decent poker AI is fairly simple and has been created for much simpler applications so it found it kind of weird.

-Texas hold'em was invented (in the 60's if i am not mistaken.) Fallout's universe is parallel anyway so you can't really compare it with RL in these details.
-If poker did not catch on after the bombing then nothing would. It is by far the most popular compared to what's in the game.

Could it be the real reason is becaue it too addictive? Or legal implications?
Though still does not explain the lack of mods for it. I don't have a perfect understanding of modding but from what i know amateurs could make this level of AI.
Could it be any underlying reason?
