Several questions about the game...

I just got boone as a companion. However, i cant seem to take his weapons away from him(can't even see them actually). I used him for a bit, then he suddenly started shooting a plasma rifle out of nowhere and i have no idea what happened to his hunting rifle. Whats going on? Do i need to give him ammo for his hunting rifle?

Also how do i repair a modded weapon? I have a 9mm pistol with an extended mag, and multiple 9mm pistols in my inventory. But i cant repair my extended 9mm pistol for some reason.

His hunting rifle is his default weapon, and I'm guessing you gave him a plasma rifle so he starts to use it, his default has unlimited ammo but any other gun you give him has to have ammo for it in his inventory for him to use it.

No companion needs ammo for their default weapon and you can't take their original weapons away from them. The only ways I can think of why he has the Plasma Rifle is he might have picked it and some MFCs up for some reason or you might have given it to him to try and get his rifle in his inventory.

You can repair a modded weapon the same way as any other, what's happening to you may either be a glitch or an oversight on your part.

Yea i guess he picked up the rifle. Also i noticed that boone sometimes get stuck with the machete and you have to use change his weapon setting from ranged to melee and back again.

For the modded weapon repair...maybe you just cant repair using a 100% weapon? Quite weird though....

Modded weapons can't be repaired with another modded weapon, you need to use the base weapons, IE modded is fixed with a standard 9mm. Unless you have Jury Rigging, then you can just go balls out with a spec of sand and repair an aircraft pretty much.

What is your repair skill level? If you have already repaired an item as high as you can go with your repair skill, you can't repair it any further until you raise your repair skill some more. If you repair skill is at 60, for example, you won't be able to repair it past 60%, without using repair kits or buying repairs from the higher-skilled NPC's that do repairs for you.

Umm...no. This is completely wrong. I'm playing OWB with a repair of MAYBE 25, and I can push my Lobotomite Jumpsuit all the way to 100% repaired, even though there's not much point in repairing it past 65%.

Is the weapon's CND bar full? If so, you can't fix it because it isn't broken.

This is only true in Fallout 3, in New Vegas the Repair skill controls how quickly something can be repaired to 100%.

thats "normal" behavior I think sometimes they will swap to melee weapons if what they are hunting can't be seen. However they will swap back with the target comes into visual range. The ywill also auto swap to melee if the target is in melee range.

To clarify, i have 3 9mm pistols in my inventory. One is modded and damaged. The other 2 are unmodded and at 100%. Looks like i cant repair using the 100% ones though.

Also boone was permanently stuck with his machete out but his status was sitll set to "ranged" in the middle of nowhere. Happened several times, had to fix it by toggling him to melee then back to ranged.

Might as well ask here : Is the 9mm pistol obsolete pretty fast? Im at about level 8, around novac, but everything seems to be taking 10+ 9mm shots to kill...once i run out of AP for headshots, all i can do is fast backpedal while firing pointblank as boone clears the rest up for me.

Havent really used the 10mm pistol either, since i get the cowboy repeater around the same time and its just much better than the 10mm pistol.

Also, one really big problem : When i empty the magazine, my character auto-reloads and i cant switch to another weapon during the reload animation. Is there a work around for this? It's killing me in some fights.

One of the reasons why I love guns like the Cowboy Repeater, Lucky and the Brush Gun is because while their reload animations may seem painfully long, the process can very easily be stopped with however many rounds were loaded. Just shoot the gun and the reload will stop.

Okay i just found out that sleeping in beds doesn't actually heal boone.

How do i heal him without using stimpacks then?

They autoheal after fights, get into a fight and win and he should be back up to full. The only times that they would not be a full health is if the take damage over time effects or run over traps.

Thats kind of weird, but i guess it works most of the time.

I equipped the 10mm laser sight to my weathered 10mm pistol. The gun dissapears and now surrounds my character in a red halo. Whats going on?

first rest outside for a few hours, he may just show up. if that doesn't work, go to the gun runners booth. near there is a computer thingy which is for dismissing side kicks. dismiss boone. about three to five days he should show up at his default spot which could be novac or that hotel room on the strip.... forgot the name of it.

He won't run around inside tight space with a sniper trying to get locks, melee is best in those situation thats why he muses the machette.

How can you possibly think repairing something that is, say, 10% with something that is already 100% is going to work - knowing that nothing goes by 100% ?

The gun disappears, or the mods for it do ?
Because it is already known that they don't appear, and that the laser can be missing even when attached - http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Weathered_10mm_pistol#Bugs

Take the mods of it and then replace them if possible.
