Classes needed to change set up.

Post » Fri Dec 16, 2011 11:29 am

I need to be able to set up 5 classes in this game.

The hot key system is not good enough.

Last night I was fighting a particularly difficult boss and was swapping about from hand to hand, to magic, to archer.

Now I have various bits of apparel that I have smithed to complement my various play styles.

For instance, for using magic, I have some enchanted mage robes, jewellery etc which enhance my magic abilities.

Now if I swap from my palladin loadlout to my mage loadout I don't want to have to access my items and start selecting individual items to wear mid battle. I would prefer to just select Mage class and automatically switch to the 'get up' I have chosen for a mage.

Now for all the role players out there who think this would detract from 'reality' or what not, you coul still have the favourites and all the rest of it. But the simple fact that you can switch clothes mid battle or where ever you are means that the ability to do so is part of the game.

So there fore I would like to see the following:

Mage class

Palladin class

Archer class

Theif class

Civilian class

So you set each one up with a default slot for each wearable/ equipable item and then when you are running about you can just switch all your stuff to archer for instance. Instead of having to trawl through 1000's of items reading the description to see if its the right one when all you want to do is put an arrow through a deers swede!!

Switching to dual weilding weapons is a problem after casting a spell too. The only way I know to switch back is by opening the inventory and left attack clicking on the other weapon I want in my left hand.

Given the amount of stuff I can carry, and given that the stuff I am wearing is all in the same bag as stuff I'm not etc, classes would be a brilliant addition.

Think Call of Duty styleeeeee.

It's easy, Skyrim basically pauses the game and lets you change gear, heck even change difficulty during a skirmish.

There is no classes. Basically you have everything as a whole yet you merely pick which ones you won't use.

I don't like the idea. If you keep switching between them all mid-battle then you're neither of them really and technically a multi-class, which defeats the purpose of having any class at all.

In other words, you want to have pre-set classes in Skyrim, and a system that allows you the benefits of each class based on how you equip your character. You want to have the advantages of a mage class, or ranger class, or warrior class, ect, at will, and then you can swap back by selecting a new 'class' that will equip you as say, a mage, or a fighter, or what have you.

In my opinion this is a horrible, game unbalancing idea that takes away the entire premise of choosing skills and perks. It's a recipe for overpowered characters

What Halthor said. There are no "classes" in Skyrim, it wasn't designed that way. But if people want to play it there way they can.

Sounds more like he wants some option that can allow him create his items in to specifically self named sets that he can just pick from without having to swap it one by one, not particularly being a whole class thing but just more ease in item swapping....nothing having to do with preset classes as some people seemed to think his post was about unless im totally wrong Shelob...just what it sounded like to me specially considering the examples you were using

Just use the term Outfits rather than Class. Saying class is what is causing all the facepalm.

I agree, but I don't think OP is thinking about this in-depth, because when his character levels up, where does he spend his only perk point?

In destruction or another mage skill; heavy armor for his paladin; sneaking for his thief?

So, unless you get 5 perk points every time you level up, some of his characters will be very weak and not viable later on in the game.

OMG, you are missing the point.

I pause the game and spend 5 mins selecting all the bits of apparel I use when I cast magic.

Then I decide I want to switch to archer, so I spend another five mins selecting all the bits of apparel I use when I am an archer.

So I might switch from Daeidric armour to Mage robes.

Now listen to me. I don't role play, I am not into all that jazz. I just maraude around Skyrim killing stuff and doing quests. You hardcoe RPGers MISS THE WHOLE POINT OF THIS GAME.

It's not just an RPG, its an open world game that lets the player do what he wants. If I want to wear a ring that enhances archery by 30% when I select a bow I can! I have whole sets of clothes to allow my character to boost certain game styles. I want to be able to select an outfit/class/style in one go without having to trawl through 100 items trying to find that ring.

Remember this, different people play this game in different ways. A set of outfits or classes that you could set up and name yourself would make switching from theif to archer a doddle instead of a pain in the neck.

If you are a hardcoe player then don't use it. If you down want to 'over power; yourself, then dont use it.

I've always wanted there to some kind of "save outfit" option.

I don't usually change gear a lot during combat but it would be really cool to be able to have different sets saved for when I'm in town buying selling and crafting, kicking a dragons ass, or just exploring around the country side.

I like it. An automatic outfit swap system would save a lot of time. I don't switch mid-battle like Shelob does, but I still have trouble keeping up with all the apparel changes I have to make to properly role-play: different clothes in towns, in the wilderness, during battle... For example, I keep forgetting to put my helmet on (it boost my archery skill, so battling dragons without it is a pretty bad idea).

The bottom line: hotkeys should allow to equip several items at once.

If you're PC you could create a request thread on the mods forum. Otherwise I find it very unlikely that Bethesda will include this in future patches.

I don't really think "outfit hotkeys" is something Bethesda will be rushing to incorporate. It might be something that would make you happy but I haven't heard anyone else trying to swap armor multiple times in mid combat.

For now, just favorite the items you alternate between and use the favorites menu to change. That's really your best option here.
