Can I be a double agent?

Post » Fri Dec 16, 2011 6:23 am

I was wondering if anyone has tried to do this yet. So far I am really disliking the arrogant high elves and the imperials that pollute the land of Skyrim. I'm not even a Nord, I'm a slimy Argonian sneaker like the guards call me. So far I haven't joined a side because I'm waiting to get a bit more powerful and finish off some other big quest. But when I do join a side I can't find any reason not to join the Stromcloaks. However I have gone to both Solitude and Windhelm and started the process of joining BOTH sides. I'm curious if I can join the legion, just to get into their headquarters and knife the lot of them in the back? So anyone tried this yet, or will I not be able to join both sides.

No, you cant.

As soon as you offically join the legion (completing their first quest to clear a fort) the rebel path is competely blocked off.

If you tried to live in Windhelm, you would have to live outside on the docks by order of Jarl Ulfric...

I did this in New Vegas and sadly there is not really too much opportunity in Skyrim for this. There will come a point where you are forced to permanently choose a side (after the second legion/imperial mission, the Jagged Crown). So you really cant, unfortunately. I wanted to do this too.

I wish you could create your own "faction" like in FO:NV because I actually hate both sides, or at least I want to be able to change up the leadership/policies of both sides in the war.

Well, not exactly assassinate them or anything. You can join one side then do the Jagged Crown quest. You can give the crown to the other side and join them, betraying the side you took your oath for. I'm joining the Stormcloaks with my Dunmer just to betray them and do a little of their questline, can't imagine actually joining them with any character but a Nord.

I cant seem to find any reason not to join the Stormcloaks. The people are fighting for there home, their land! And my Argonian mage is going to help them.

On my second play through, I think I'll be a Nord powerhouse and join the Legion, just because I'm evil.

if you join the DB and the legion at the same time, you might as well wear that label... that's all I'll say ;)

I did this in little different way. With my first character I was a Stormcloak. It was really enjoying to play as real Nord warrior.

Now with second character I decided to be evil like you, but I'm a little bit nastier than you: I'm Altmer and fighting for the Thalmor as their agent. It's fun to mess with both sides and make them angry towards each other. And it's challenging to assasinate all priest and worshipers of Talos.

Yes, betrayal is ever so sinfully sweet when done with elegance and the element of surprise. Hmm delicious..

It's not like the NPCs acknowledge the betrayal...

I actually posted this after I felt like an extreme badass during a quest were I had to infiltrate a Thalmour building. I was sneaking around like a combination of Ezio, Solid snake, and a lizard! I had two daggers, a bow and I was dropping guards right outside their post. One of the best missions so far. Mmm 15x sneak dagger multiplier....

I'm the same way, considering they have a pretty racist view towards elves(Not saying its not warranted).

I don't know which one I would be truly working for - it would depend on my current character - but I do think that should be an option.
