Bethesda, please add a mountaineering perk/blessing

Post » Fri Dec 16, 2011 1:36 pm

Skyrim is made of mountains and I'd like to be able to climb them better than the status quo at present time. It was a gas, it was FUN to boulder hop in Oblivion. I don't know why you removed high speed and strength and acrobatics from Skyrim; they would have helped enormously. Anyone else miss them? Any reason they don't exist? Could there be an added 'mountaineering blessing' or something with an Add-on?? Even a modest improvement would be a pleasure.

They were unnecessary. I do think their should be a skill tree devoted to mountain climbing though

Any weapons past one is unnecessary. And yet we have 3 skills and a crap ton of weapons in those skills.

Jumping/running/climbing would be a good skill to have rolled into one.

I don't understand how you could think a skill devoted solely to mountain climbing would make more sense than a skill for general acrobatics...

Yeah, because climbing up mountains in this game is just a pain in the ass.

Oh wait, no it's not. Y'all silly.

I was slipping to my death today and I had this idea for something like Boots of Mountaineering.

when I was starting out I was being stubborn and decided to climb off the rocks of the mountain to get to High Hrothgar (which means doing a whole lot of space bar spamming, etc) and accidentally made my way all the way up to the throat of the world without realizing what that place was,
found out that the little passageway was blocked by an invisible wall, slid off the side of the mountain a bit dangerously
and eventually got to high hrothgar. has anyone else done this? :/

How to climb mountains in Skyrim, sans horse:

1) Run into the mountain.

2) Spam the jump key.

3) Strafe back and forth.

Congratulations! You just made it to the summit of The Throat of the World before ever setting foot in High Hrothgar or talking to the Greybeards!
