Character Creation Messup Solution?

Post » Fri Dec 16, 2011 3:00 pm

Well, like others, I was eager to play Skyrim, so I didn't exactly take my time with the character creation.
I decided to choose a skin tone which I do and dont like, but I should've went with the a the lighter skin tone.
I know that it's not the biggest deal in the world, but would you guys think that Bethesda could possibly make a system where you can re-customize your character via a sort of surgery system, like a wizard who will only accept certain things or something?

I don't exactly know how it works on PC, but on Xbox and PS3, there is no way I can change my characters' facial features

If the chances of this happening are slim, then that's fine. I can handle it, lol, not really that bad. I just would've liked a lighter skin tone. Maybe I'm taking it too far. Anyways, lol, what do you guys think?

I have started over at least 4 times, now, due to not liking the way that my character turned out. It is an arduous process for people like me.

It didn't bother me too much, considering how much fun the game is. Each time I started over, I got a completely different experience each time. I got different items, etc.

Anyway, I have no idea if a make-over/editor is going to be introduced with DLC, or not.

Assuming it will not, I recommend starting over. Create a character named "test" and as soon as your binds are cut within Helgen Keep, and you're able to look at yourself, do so, and then reload the autosave just before creating your character and keep working until you are satisfied. That worked for me.

Doubtful that it will be included in any future content (although it is always easy to do on PC). The way I see it is they have no real reason to include it. There are three types of people in this situation:

  • People like me who really only screw around with customization a few times, then it's basically just race and gender and skip the rest. We do not need a feature like that.
  • Then there is the other group that care enough about it to spend a good hour on making their character, just to be sure they are happy with how they look. Typically, they won't stop until they are 100% happy so they don't need the feature.
  • Finally, there are people who want this feature because they will either start a new character or they will want to start a new character because they decide they are not happy with how they look. I may be wrong, but I suspect they are the minority by a lot.

You have restartitis. You will never be statisfied til you accept that your character will never be pretty at every angle. unless you tell yourself they are.

I've restarted characters more times than I can count, I'm very sick of the intro part of the game. In fact, I could turn completing it in record time into an Olympic sport probably.

I would like at least to have the option to modify your character before leaving the starting dungeon like previous games.

Well, the game is filled to bursting with bugs, so I might as well at least look good. I am in the #2 category.

What I would have liked is a chance to see my character's full body and be able to rotate 360 degrees. You spend 99% of the game looking at the back of the character's head, yet the whole character creation is spent making the front of the head (which generally spends most of the game under a helmet).

More body options too. - Tall, short, fat, skinny, busty, flat, etc.

They should at least let you change the stuff like hair, facial hair (cut and color of both), war paint + color, and dirt + color.

^Whenever there's a "busty" option, you know the guys are just gonna put that bar all the way to the right...

Problem is, I'm level 38.

I don't have that big of a problem, him being a bit darker skinned makes my High Elf look even more evil, what I want.
But then I think about myself in real life, and say, "hey, you know what, im not that skin colour in real life."
But then I say to myself again, "Hey, this is a fantasy world, create my own character that I want, blah blah".

Haha, I think I'm taking this a bit too far, but these things just keep bugging me.

Ill post a picture of my character soon.

This I agree with. Changing your race and stuff could cause complications with Skyrim so I really doubt they'll do that.

Well personally, I'd go more towards the left. But to each his/her own I guess.

Maybe make the dirt appear automatically over time and make you have to wash up to clean it up? War paint/color start at a default palette then unlock more with each group you meet / guild you join.

If you know someone who plays on PC I think they could change your save for you, the saves (x-box to PC anyway) are interchangeable with just some minor renaming.

There are already several sites on the net offering pre-character creator saves with all kinds of additions like reduced shout cooldowns, or Greybeard hoods and robes in your inventory, or extra perk points, that are good to go on an x-box. You can find everything from God mode saves to very basic- like just all the clothes/armor from the game - whether the player was supposed to have access to them or not. I know they are being made by people using the PC and then renaming for the xbox so I'd be surprised if skin tone couldn't be changed the same way.

On PC, type showracemenu into the console, its the safest way, BUT your current "active effects" will mostly be gone; so like the breton magic resistance for example, will be gone after you enter showracemenu.
Also if you change your race halfway your stats (hp mp stamina) will be messed up, so its advised not to change your race. And yea i've got a few "ugly" characters too, but by not looking at their face it doesnt really affect me :celebration:
