Im willing to bet Spell-Making will be a DLC

It's just bizarre they cut it the first place. Who cares if it is spread sheety (don't answer that), it was still one of the most memorable features of TES and besides a spreadsheet wouldn't look all that out of place with in Skyrim's UI anyway and I don't see how it would differ much in look to how enchanting or improving weapons does anyway.

No, I think the real reason there is none, is like someone said before me. Its probably a nightmare to code in the new engine and they probably don't want to admit that.. but if I'm wrong, prove me wrong Bethesda. :P

I highly doubt it would be a nightmare. In fact, I would almost guarantee that a workable version will be released within a few days by the modding community once the CK is released. Along with epic spell making, I also hope be to able to have some decent enchanting...its horrible as it stands right now. Why cant I enchant arrows??? Sure, I can apply poisons to my arrows...but its not the same...

Putting a bunch of biased crap beside "yes" and "no" pretty much guarantees I won't vote either way.

This...

Try to make yourself sound somewhat objective next time you put together a poll

I hope they add nothing that will alter the base code for the game.

The more they dink around with that, the more broken our games will become. I have an unplayable copy of Fallout new vegas thanks to all of the patching they've done. With the way steam forces updates down your throat it's almost impossible to get the game working they way it did when it was first released. I see this happening to Skyrim too, but I have a virgin copy of the .exe in it's own folder I can fall back on if things go south.

The CK will fix most of the problems with magic when it is released. I doubt you will get anyone to buy a DLC to fix the original games problems. Those people upset by it are not exactly the people that will shell out more money for the game.

I wouldn't be as vocal at wanting spell making back if mods were an option. :P

But yes, I do hope someone makes an epic spell making mod that gains a lot of recognition. Maybe then Bethesda will realise the error of their ways and add it so us console players won't be left in the cold.. (pun intended )

I've thought this as well. There was a role specific DLC for all 3 in Oblivion, I could see them doing it again. However, in addition to if not instead of spell making, I think they'll add the ability to combine 2 different spells by dual casting with them equiped. Todd got allsmiley during an interview when asked about it, and said they would love to do it and it'd be awesome

26-26-25, never seen a poll so neatly split.

I voted no, because I'd imagine that to re-add spellmaking to a franchise that has always had it in the form of a purchaseable DLC, even after the community was very visibly upset about its ommission during the development phase, would cast Bethesda ni an extremely negative light.

I'd say they'll just leave it as is, or maybe add it in free. But probably leave it be.

While I do believe there will be some sort of "magical expansion" released in an attempt to spice up spell casting, I seriously doubt it will be in the form of spell creation.

On a side note, I would much rather be able to combine spells than create them. I don't see how it could be pulled off in this game. The magic is way too polished and intense. In oblivion you could just be like word this this awesome now i shoot a glowing ball that does so and so. But this...there aren't just effects like "fire" and "snowball" that are used for all the spells of that type. Theres runes and fireballs that blow up and flamethrower hands and firebolts and firestorms. It seems to me like they'd have to create a generic effect for the different types of spells and maybe let you change its color..the magic in oblivion was dull enough to make it work but in skyrim i think it would have to be too simple to be worth it

I doubt official DLC will offer any kind of spellmaking. (Especially in the morrowind/oblivionesque sense)

But I would love to see some balancing together with a "spell combining" mod.

Here are some ideas:

Significantly higher damage output but only a chance of staggering with the impact perk, when dual-casting.
Ward + Fire-Spell = A Shield, especially effective against fire damage.
Clairvoyance + Fireball = maybe a target-seeking fireball ?
Summon Dremora Lord + Fire-Spell = A dremora mage specialized in fire spells.
Ebony Shield + Summon = The summoned creature is automatically shielded by your spell.
Fire Rune + Paralysis = Paralyzes Enemy + it's set on fire
Fire+Ice = Boom. Spell explodes in your hand and kills you. Magic is dangerous; some stuff can't be combined.

Considering that there is a sliding bar to adjust damage of elemental enchants, the interface needed for spellmaking is already part of the game. The various spell effects are also already in the code. There was no technical reason for it's removal. You want the reason, this is it.

Magic needed to be gimped to emphasize the mechanic of Shouts, because otherwise Spellslingers wouldn't care.

Well Bethesda, you messed this up... so fix it.

[...and it better be a patch if you do, because I shouldn't have to pay for your mistake.]

I don't think so, i suspect they were quite determined when they removed it, probably due to "balance issues".

Highly unlikely, as it would mean changing the existing magic system. If they did, which i want them to do but am not getting my hopes up about it, it would have to be FREE otherwise there would be an even bigger uproar. people would bu it sure, but they would be pissed about having to pay for something that should have been in the game to begin with.
