An open letter to Bethesda - please include toggle options

Post » Fri Dec 16, 2011 8:19 pm

For 3rd person finishers, and the auto adjusting brightness.

Please include toggle options for these in a future patch. Kill cam could be toggled in Fallout, why on earth remove the option? For a game that emphasises customisation and choice, such forced gimmicks seem somewhat hypocritical.

Also a 1st person option for horse riding.

And perhaps a first person camera for werewolf? Lol. Playing in first person all the time makes playing a forced third person werewolf kinda hard.

I was running into walls all over the place trying to fight in third person. Took a while before I could actually line up my character and hit something.

I much prefer 1st person, though I will admit some of the finishing moves and spell effects, power attacks, etc. are pretty cool to see in third person.

I play an archer and enjoy not having "finishing moves"

the few that I did experience while leveling up 1 handed skills were pretty horrid, with bad camera angles. like slicing someones throat, but with the wrong edge of a dagger. I lol'ed.

or, not even seeing them because of said bad camera angles.

The finishing moves are too corny for my taste, they just remind me of some cheesy God of War cutscene.

I personally love the finishers, and was very dissapointed to find archers and mages don't get them. So I'm playing a melee character which is something I haven't done in years.

Having said that, more options are always better. If people don't want them, they should be able to disable them.

Not sure if character height is a factor, but my breton girl is doing more of a scalping attempt (with the blunt side of her blade).

As for options, toggleable helmets surely?
(I already have a mod for this on PC)

If you play in first person, you should never be forced into a third person kill cinematic. Same thing if you play in third person, you shouldn't be forced to watch a kill cinematic in first person.

Would love to see options to turn this off, as well as the auto adjustment of brightness. If not by Bethesda, then hopefully a mod will fix this.
