Resetting follower skill level

Post » Fri Dec 16, 2011 5:04 pm

Anyone know if there is some way to 'reset' the skill/level value of a follower by either tricking the game to do it or using the console? I would like the game to re-determine the level of Lydia so that I can use an 'updated' version of her.

In reference to my comment about my inquiry of "tricking the game", here is an example of what I mean:

Spoiler
I know that Aela starts out at the level you first meet her, but it has been mentioned that after the first werewolf changing her skill/level values are re-determined based on your characters current level. I would imagine there is some way to do something similar with other followers, but I don't know how.

I haven't used followers much. Stealth character was better off alone and then now my dual sword wielding fighter type class tends to kill any followers and innocent bystanders (so sad cause he was supposed to be my "good" character). Now that my fighter is pretty much demolishing anything in his path I thought I would learn some finesse and utilize a follower to experience the dynamic a little more thoroughly.

I have had good successes with followers by equipping them with smithed gear. Lydia is decked out with Legendary Ebony gear and is a freaking tank. Aela is in upgraded forsworn stuff and even tho it's not that great she is still killer, especially with her dumpy bow and ebony arrows.

Side note, I can't get her to equip the enchanted legendary ebony bow. She keeps using her hunter's bow and the arrows I have her. I guess the bow us good tho because she can kill some [censored].

It was my understanding that the follower leveled up with re: skills, just not health/stamina/majika. Is that wrong?

Some followers won't level up even if you use disable/enable. For instance, Sven won't go up past level 20. Here is a way to manually set their skills if it's not too much cheating for you:

1) Open the console
2) Click in your follower
3) Type "setav [skill] [value]"

For example, if you want Lydia's skill in heavy armor to be 100, you type:

setav heavyarmor 100

Some reports state that this will not last if you reload a new save, but I have done this with Sven and he has kept his skills so far. Note that you can make your followers overpowered this way, it's up to you how powerful or weak you want them to be.

But that doesn't help the xbox player, who is stuck with a character that doesn't gain more health or stamina.

Indeed, and why I buy the PC version. (Not a poke at consoles, it's just the best thing to do if you have the option (re: A capable PC.) in my opinion.)
