Dissapointed with the lack of unique weapons

Post » Fri Dec 16, 2011 9:27 pm

For the most part I've found and read about the "unique" weapons in Skyrim, most are regular looking weapons with special name and magic ability. In prior TES games there were unique "looking" weapons that were worth collecting.

I could be wrong and if I am, please point me in the right direction.

I wish they would have done a better job on the overall design of the unique weapons. It's just a half hearted attempt at creating "extra" weapons as it is.

A mod will easily fix this, perhaps. I'd expect some mods will provide for probably 50 different possible suits of armor and 100 or more weapons.

Why do mods have to do everything for us? Every time there's a problem or whatever, people say "Mods mods mods".

There is quite a few unique weapons and apparel. The problem is that they are weak compared to stuff you can make yourself, even if you don't exploit the system.

Try the Daedric quests.

i picked up every Daedric Artifact out there, result not that much Umbra was actually something any Sword/Shield would aspire in oblivion the one, one hand sword in Skyrim isen't expecially cuse of the gloom and the low stats in comparecy to Ebony/Daedric swords onlly bad thing is that they bouth look horrible IMO

That weapon is pretty much the best weapon in the game IMO. It eats Dragon Priests for lunch.

Dawnbreaker is also pretty unique.

Both weapons are gamebreakers for the most part. In fact, the unique effects of Dawnbreaker will allow you to beat certain bosses that might otherwise kill you without it.

I follow you, I do, but this is the way of the Rim.

Mods play an extremely large role in many Bethesda games.

OT: I actually like the "blandness" so to speak. Or kind of at least. I don't like when things get too "flashy", or "pew pew" or whatever. I like the gritty non-epic stuff, and usually end up wearing beggars' clothes. Did so in Oblivion, and already am in Skyrim.

Agreed. It wouldn't have been hard to look up "Medieval swords" on Google, and then pick and make 3 or 4 different types for each material instead of just one generic type for each that looks like something out of a Manga show. Why, as a Smith, can you only make the same generic type that everyone else does? Does smiths not have any imagination? A few different templates, or even a mix and match of various hilt, pommel, crossguards and blade styles would've made a massive difference.

Yea, I was kind of disspointed in the lack of variety, especially with crafting. You should really be able to choose at least one other aesthetic for an armor/weapon set when crafting. I can deal with 99% of the loot I find being basic or generic, but the unique and craftable items should have some flair to them.

I have to agree. The weapons I can forge and enchant are 10 times better than those I received from Daedric quests. There is nothing truly unique here. I remember Umbra from Oblivion. Now that was a sword, the best in game! Player made weapons beat out Daedric artifacts now... sad LOL
