Is this a "viable" class to go after?

Right now my lvl 21 dark elf pretty much sneaks around and shoots arrows at people, when I start getting attacked I switch to a shield and conjured sword. I really like conjuring my weapons, and when I get it, I'll be using the conjured bow a lot. I have perk points mostly in sneak and archery, and I'm currently sitting on about 7 perks because I don't know what to do with them yet.

Is conjuring sword and shield/sneaky archery going to actually be viable later on, or should I go ahead and fully commit to one of them? I also run around in leather, then switch to heavy armor when I get in hand to hand combat....which I don't like doing. If I commit fully to archery, what should I do when someone gets close? Run off? Any advice will be appreciated, thanks!

yah is viable conjur weapons with perks on conjuration and perks on the kind of weapon u are using add dmg

remember u have toons of perk pts so u can spend them in conjur sneak archery and 1h+shield without a problem cheerz

pd other choices are since u already invest on conjuration u can summon creatures or raise undead to help u out, if u already spend on sneak u can also use backstab with daggers x15 dmg with the last perk on sneak shadow something XD u can always do the x15 dagger dmg

You should do what I like to do. It's nearly the same as your setup, except I don't use sword and shield.

I sneak with a bow, and if the enemy gets too close, I summon an atronach to distract/deal/take damage.


This way, you can still summon a bow, but you focus your skills on ranged, sneak, and summoning, as opposed to ranged, sneak, summoning, blocking, and 1-handed (I'm assuming using a conjured sword levels up your 1-handed, correct?).

Mind you, I haven't gotten very far in this game (I don't really like it that much without it being heavily modded), but this setup worked wonderful in oblivion, and it's working pretty good so far in skyrim.

I would also suggest that you stick to only one type of armour. I'm thinking light armour would be better, but I'm not entirely sure on that.

Yea the conjured sword levels up 1-handed and conjuration :D, I think I might do what you do with the summons instead of sword and board, however those summons use a ton of mana! I guess I'll focus on raising my mana then.

I'd recommend committing to the bow. The bound bow is much stronger than the bound swords and stays competitive with smithed weapons for much longer, I use it on my archer who won't be smithing anything farther than maybe elven. Make sure to take the Mystic Binding perk.

Depends on your build, but one of your skills, likely one handed, will probably just end up falling behind if you split between bow and one handed. Plus you have to invest a lot of perks in one handed to get much out of it later on. The bow is a viable way to kill anything once you've got power shot. Things should rarely reach melee range, and if they do it's probably better to get out of melee range than try to fight with a sub-par one handed skill. I agree with one of the above posters - if you're going conjuration up to 50 for the bound bow, might as well use summons over melee. You only need to get to 75 conjuration for the dremora lord, and it's the best summon in the game while also not requiring any of the atronach perks to be strong.

Yea definitely, sounds like fun. What leather armor would I aim for, Daedra can be leather right? :shrug:

Armor isn't a major issue, but since you're not smithing, elven is, I think, enough to hit the armor cap if you go up to the matching set perk in light armor. Might need to use a vendor smithing potion but not sure. Daedric can't be light armor, the strongest is dragonscale.
