Thinking of making a paladin. How good is Imperial Luck?

Post » Fri Dec 16, 2011 2:51 pm

I want to make a paladin. Shield, heavy armor, 1h and restoration/alteration/illusion magic.

What would be the best race for it? Both lore wise and gameplay wise.

Also, how much more gold do you find with the imperial luck trait?

Imperial isnt bad. Depends on what type of Crusader/Paladin your trying to be. A Knight of the Nine? Knights of the Circle, like the Templars in Daggerfall? A Vigilant of Stendarr?

Another interesting build that is like the yin to the Paladins yang, is the Inquisitor.

I'm not too familiar with the lore surrounding anything other than the knights of the nine. I'm looking into it on the wiki.

I used a nord for my Paladin he his epic.
As far as Imperial Luck goes my Imperial Thief/Assassin has more mony than he can spend.

I'd say Imperial or Breton, and wait for a mod that adds the Vigilants of Stendarr as a faction (which is what I'm doing). If it were viable, I'd also avoid Daedric quests and focus on the Eight, but Bethesda has this habit of making all decent gameplay available only in shady factions (thieves guild, DB, daedra worshippers...); there's no love for pious good do-ers :sadvaultboy:

I'm an Imperial and I have waaaaay more gold than my Dunmer character, I can't tell you exactly how much more you'll find though.

But to be honest. How much gold to you really need? After a certain point in the game the perk is meaningless.

Imperial luck stinks. For that build choose a breton. Honestly anything would do, but bretons just have great abilities and good racial bonuses.

Just max out illusion and perks in that school. Illusion spells outclass the undead spells by a large margin.

Back, OK, so did you choose race yet?

The undead spells damage and level effectiveness of the higher restoration spells don't do great damage, but are much more "Crusader/Paladin-y" than Illusion. Id go with Restoration purely for RP purposes.

Inquisitors are similar to Paladins/Crusaders and are fun to play as well, but were kind of ruined when they removed the command spells. If there was still command, Id say play one of those instead.

Redguards do make good Templars...

Though despite my HATRED for Imperials, they are made for that role

Nord. Nords in lore are adept in restoration magic and are very good in combat. In Skyrim, they nerfed the inherent Restoration ability, but it was established as lore in Oblivion.
OR Breton, as they are very adept with defensive magic, and paladins being protectives of the faith and holy crusades and whatnot, they fit the playstyle well.
