So i just bought The Witcher 2 because of a deal on steam...

And i've come to see everything Skyrim could have been if it was made for Pc.

I'm talking more about the graphics, and fluidness rather than gameplay.

Don't get me wrong, 180 hours of Skyrim have been wonderful. Its just a real, real shame.

Is it worse than the overinflated sense of entitlement so many PC gamers seem to have?

And do you know why they have that?

because pc gamers are what made TES a success. Thats simply the truth.

 Oh look, another one of these threads. I agree with Hackworthy. I play on PC and yet still don't understand this bizarre sense of entitlement that seems rampant among the PC player community.

Xbox 360 hardware is like 10 years old. Its just holding technology and better games back.

I have witcher 2 since its release.

It was released without any kind of introduction to combat and started you out vs a dragon and you found out the game controls by dying over and over and over again until you figured out the controls on your own.

Ignoring that glaring flaw, witcher 1 was a lot more fun.

I agree, however brilliant Skyrim is, the Witcher 2 is better in every aspect except the freedom that character creation and the open world offers in Skyrim.

In terms of graphics, story, gameplay, characters the Witcher 2 comes out on top. Having said that, I am not denying that Skyrim is an excellent game, but the Witcher 2 shows how to do things: develop for PC first, then scale back to consoles.

Yea, Witcher 2 looks better because it's a PC game, but let's wait until they port it on consoles (that was the plan anyway because on PC it sold < 1 million) and we'll see which one looks better then ;)

If Skyrim, being as large and open as it is, had the same graphics of Witcher 2 (which I personally do not find all that spectacular) then it would be an unstable, low FPS nightmare.

This. Scaling back to consoles should always be the case.

I mean, xbox games are DESIGNED on pcs for god sakes.

The Witcher 2 hasnt been released on consoles. Also, in my opinion, it makes sense to start with the static platform for development that is the (outdated) 360, rather than develop for the moving target that is the pc, and scale back to the console.

The reason the Witcher 2 is a better game in many respects than skyrim has nothing to do with graphics or being developed on a pc. Its to do with the better writing of the development team.

I really don't care if that is true or not, I enjoy playing things on Xbox and I enjoy not paying for computer hardware. I'm sure most people who play on Xbox probably feel the same way.

Huh?

Not even the same genre of game, remotely.

I liked both Witchers but the comparison is ridiculous.

Here's an idea though:

DON'T BUY THE NEXT TES GAME AND STOP USING FORUMS FOR GAMES YOU DON'T LIKE.

Crazy I know, but maybe you can stop riling yourself and and actually have fun playing what you want.

I love gaming on a PC, it has the advantage of mods when tools are available (huge), and the fact that I can play the Witcher 2, turn around and play Mount and Blade Warband, and maybe even go oldschool with Thief 3.

Hard to deny the convenience factor of the Xbox though.

There will always be a niche for PC games, but you can damn well expect companies like Bethesda will be seeing PC as secondary, and that is only logical, and not even something to complain about..there are just operating as a business like that does.

The Witcher 2 looks pretty technology wise, but the artstyle is way superior in Skyrim. Also, Skyrim is far superior in character freedom, world design, world interaction, replay value, in game lore, sound and music, combat....

Blame console gamers for being more numerous and having more economic power than PC gamers; don't blame game designers for making rational economic decisions and catering for the wider audience.

Oh and google "Skyrim Torrent".

Thats why developers develop for consoles, people actually buy the games.

Stealing PC games is just way too easy. If you have a torrent downloader, you just download it and install it as if you bought it theres no hassle no wizardry like there is for pirating a console game.

Think of all the blood sweat and tears put into this awesome game. This game deserves to make a billion dollars in profit, cause Beth is just [censored] [censored] amazing.

They aren't gonna make that billion from PC gamers. I am very appreciative that they support us PC gamers. I proudly buy my games. Video games are the cheapest form of entertainment available and the highest quality.

People who pirate video games are [censored] scum. Now I'm angry. :banghead:

I game on the PC as well have since the 80s and I never understood a lot of the elitism or fanboyisms nor the blame the consoles for how games on the PC are developed now instead of looking at the horrible truth that marketing and profit numbers are what dictates the decisions developers make when making a game. I mean no one ever stops and considers that people like and and a few others here can afford and are willing to pay the price for PC upgrades or new PCs not everyone is especially now where a lot of the PC market is playing mmos that can be run on computers nearly a decade old and those same rather stick to their mmo of choice rather than worry about upgrading for the next top PC game. I have experience in marketing and believe it or not marketing controls a lot of an industry and is held in high opinion when crucial choices were made and in this case my bet is that marketing told them to keep the game toned down in requirements not just to save payed man hours on development across the platforms, but also for how the market is today and how much more tight fisted people are getting with money.

This didn't start off well, there's already some degree of needlessly derogatory comments and such. I don't see it getting much better, and we don't generally allow "versus" threads around here.

So, locked.
