No Games

Post » Sat Dec 17, 2011 12:38 am

You know what has occurred to me? There are no games or anything to be played at any of the Inns or Taverns around Skyrim. Not in any of the cities have run into a card, dice, or drinking game for that matter. Except for that one mission. I find it difficult to believe that with all the Nords who make Nord Mead and Bretons running around Skyrim, there isn't a single drinking game being played. With all of the Elves and Khajits, there are no dice games to be played at any of the cities anywhere in Skyrim. I mean. Even FONV had plenty of games to be palyed for fun while you killed time or whatever in game.

This to me seems to be a(nother) missed opportunity for some reason by Bethesda. It doesn't make any sense that I can go up to a Bard and make a song request but I cannot indulge my character in a round or two or three of a good gambling game or drinking game. The game environment looks pretty and all, there are some dynamic features of the game and such, but this being left out is where I think(and this is only an opinion) that creativity is missing in this game. I don't believe that it would have been that difficult to add this to the game since it has already been done in other games by the same developer. It would also be cool if after two orthree drinks of wine or mead, one feels and sees the visual effects of being drunk. With all of this Alto wine, Mead, Wine, and Ale around it would seem this was overlooked.

I guess all in all, I would like to see something like this added to the game although it is very unlikely. I think it would add another level of environmental depth to the game experience as a whole. Let me know what you guys think in regard to this matter and aspect of the gaming experience and environment.

Even with all of this said, I am still however enjoying plenty of other aspects of the game.

Personally I am glad there are no garbage mini games in Skyrim. Games that have these types of mini-games implement them to add artificial game hours.

I would love a drinking or card game. Or maybe some more brawls to get into. Drunken brawls being a plus.

They could of made taverns far more interesting with just a simple gambling mini-game to play with npcs or something
You can't even get drunk! Taverns are just rendered pointless really.

Gambling was fun and rewarding in New Vegas.

One could argue that there are dozens of pointless dungeons here that simply add "artificial" game hours. You don't need the loot if you're making your own gear, so why bother?

Heavy drinking and drug abuse should be elements in this game. The more mead or skooma the blurrier your view becomes. Chance of O.D. when mixed.
Also, there should be prostitution in this game. For the sake of it. In general, there should be more low life.

Its just my opinion. I actually didn't mind it in NV either but NV had alot of other content as well. I moreso had in mind games like Red Dead redemption, which I really enjoyed but the mini-games, ingame achievements and unlockable items come off as a desperate attempt to add hours.

I was thinking it, Pistolero, just didn';t actually want to put it in there for some reason. The Witcher(my favorite series) implemented it rather well and cleanly in the game(the first one at least). These are all elements one would expect to find in a game like this, but for some reason, these elements have been forsaken or overlooked. Like I said, I see no reason why these elements are not in the game. Drug addiction, etc, alcoholism, etc. There is a lot missing from this game environment. Not very deep. But once, I will continue til I finish or quit or have enough...

C'moooon, you don't agree that a nice Elven or Dwarven Dice gambling game wouldn't be nice in the various Inns around Skyrim.? It would be cool to have different levels of play at different stakes and such. It has worked successfully in other games, I do not see why it wasn't added or overlooked in Skyrim. Nords and Bretons, Elves and Khajits and no drinking or gambling games. Once again, I see this as a short coming of sorts.

A place to sleep
A place to get food and drink
A place to get quests
A place to get companions.

Not really pointless.

I don't like those mini-games. Especially if they are like RDR where there are achievements/trophies that require you to play them in such a specific way

Not really, they're there because they belong there, like in RDR, what would be a western without them? Besides I quite enjoyed the mini games on it, I learned how to play Black Jack.

There's tonnes of places to do and get all those things. Anyway i just mean there's just no point in going into a 'tavern' unless you have to, which makes it pointless seeing as it should be at least a slightly fun place to be.
