Books disspearing.

OK so I decided that my character is going to relocate his HQ to Markarths Vindrel Hall. I got almost everything back so far but when I placed the books on there shelf They never showed up. So I left the house and came back in. They still arent there. I had about 100 books that are gone now. To really get that RP feel I like to have full book shelves. So now what do I do? Is there a way to get them to appear? Also, How can I get alot of people in my home? I am tryig to make a group called "The Dragon Blades" and I want my home to be their living quarters. So how can I do this? All the people I currently have are Aela the Huntress and Lydia. ell, I don't know i Lydia will stay in that house. She was in my whiterun home but I moved so I hope she comes to. I as kinda hoping that I could get Vilkas and Farkas to "join".

Unfortunately, they are gone forever. Patch 1.3 is supposed to be fixing the issue with the bookshelves, which everyone has been affected by. If you are on PS3, or 360, the patch will be out sometime this week, but it will not make your books come back. It will only ensure that never happens again in the future.

RP it was a band of book thieves that heard about your vast collection of knowledge and wanted for themselves.

^ Not funny. Having items disappear out of your inventory is never a laughing matter.

Of course not, but giving items disappear from your unlocked house (like what happened to OP) could be taken as funny by those with somewhat dry/ cruel senses of humor.

I don't understand how a cruel sense of humor could ever be considered a good thing.

A yucky glitch. I'm sorry that you lost so many books. I noticed the glitch almost immediately and will lose only a handful, thank goodness.

Worst case scenario, steal books from the Mage's College and plop them on your shelves instead.

I probably should have replaced / with "or". Seriously though, I'm the only one that sees the humor in having items go missing from your unlocked house while you were away for in game days?

Are you kidding me? It's almost as bad as having your sweetroll stolen.

OK you guys answered the question about the books but what about the people? Are there any quests that rewards you with a follower that lives in your home? I tried Lydia but when I say its time to part ways she just walks to the Whiterun home
