My house is fugly

Post » Sat Dec 17, 2011 3:57 am

First house. Just bought the one in Whiterun.

Went to see Provenci-or-whatever, the steward, but he doesn't give me the option to furnish it now. (I only saw that option when I bought it in the dialogue, but I wasn't rich enough to afford more than the deed.)

;-( Anyone else that can help me?

I dunno. Maybe have your character wait a day or two (game time). He always had the upgrade option for my character (I think it was one from the top).

What I really wish is that he'd sell *parts* of the upgrades. I could use a couple bookshelves, another picnic table, and a whole bunch of arms racks.

You might have to read the 'Decorating Guide to Whiterun'.. Not sure mind.

Ive had the same problem in different areas other then white run. Once it was because I was on a quest at the time from the steward, once I had finished it the options returned. Another was in markarth, I had to go out of the area into another cell, wait a bit then re enter the castle and talk to him again.

perhaps its bugged, or perhaps you were talking to him at a strange time of day or in a location different than he is normally in.

i only say the last one is because the dialog of npc's in eldscrolls games is based on a number of variables which could be: location, faction, time of day, scripted... etc

Some NPCs I have had to talk to twice to get the options. Try that.

I meant to ask as well... are any of these upgrades anything other than cosmetic and aesthetic? Do I get more chests? Stocked fridge? free potions?

yes you will get more storage locations. All you need is one chest for unlimited capacity but then different locations lets you sort things of a type. there will be like 10 spots if I recall, including the barrel.

For whatever reason that dude never gave me the option to upgrade my house if he was on the Dragonreach porch. I waited for an hour in-game time and spoke to him inside the castle and he gave me the option then. Not sure why it happens, but it does.
