Skeever Bait

Post » Fri Dec 16, 2011 9:52 pm

So while I'm doing a quest for a particular organization...I decide that Maven pissed me off since she doesn't know who the hell she's talking to when she mentions the Dark Brotherhood...so when I'm doing her quest...I try my best not to kill any of the rodents...or follow the directions exactly...unfortunately I can't complete the quest unless I do so...and thus far I have found no way to screw up her quest...

...so I go back and kill every last pest...except for one little Skeever...

...so I'm just sitting there looking at the details of my Daedric Armor and checking out my sword and really taking time to appreciate the graphics at Ultra...and this little Skeever is just chomping away. So for about 3 minutes I do this and I realize there's another health bar displayed on the screen...the Skeever's. It's hurt...but...how? It has like...-2000 armor...it dies from bear traps....I legitimately feel sorry for these things...it's no wonder they're pissed off when Life itself hates it...so then...what the hell is hurting it? So I look at it...and every 5 or 6 bites it takes...it gets hurt...by the time I had noticed it, its health was half way down. X-D It eventually gets to I guess....the Skeever's version of 1hp...and runs off...and I follow it...and....then it just dies....

I guess with 1,329 armor, Skeevers break their teeth on you. I wonder if that's really it. I mean...my armor has no effect that would damage it. Haha. Or does its bite count as a mana burn and when it loses its mana it just starts subtracting from the health?

Eh. Idk. Nerd humor maybe....Thought it was funny. Thought I'd share it. :mohawk:

True Facts: Your armor is really only ~500 and not over 1,000. Armor rating is capped, and the numbers shown in-game don't reflect the actual AC provided.

Oh. :0

What's the formula for determining my AC?
And what's the cap?

Well...just found the answer to that question.
That's kinda lame...579? Really? That really means that you could just keep upgrading iron armor until you met the total 80%...which means Smithing is almost completely useless passed steel unless you don't take any Heavy Armor perks...which would be dumb...man...who's dumb idea was that? I guess it's a balancing issue but still...

Ehh well...aesthetics seems to be what it all boils down to. Which isn't a BAD thing. Still leaves me curious as to how in the hell a Skeever died from attacking me.

The last perk in the Heavy Armor tree has a 10% chance to reflect melee damage.

mmm lolz? this doesnt make smithing "almost useless", actually lvl smith 100 gets u to spend less perks on heavy armor to get to cap, improves dps on all weapons, and gives u the freedom to use any armor that u rly like either looks, rp, etc

You got a foot fungus?
You contracted a disease from his claws.. and then gave it back to him when he bit you?
He bit his tongue, and bled to death?
Is your suit made in china... Does it contain lead or mercury?
Must be those arsenic socks your wife knitted for you?
Is your characters name "D-Con"?
Did you step in bear poo... I hear that skeevers are prone to Escherichia coli?

Just a few ideas...

X-D Hahahah! Nice.

@Kuraudo Wulfclaw
I misspoke a wittle bit didn't I? Daedric Weaponry I suppose would be worth it..but there again...armor wise you can literally just take 3 perks in smithing and get what you want. I'd say between Dragon Scale, Glass, and Iron Armor...TO ME those are the best looking anyway. As far as improving armor....Enchanters Elixir, Smithing Ring, Enchanter's Elixer, a better Smithing ring...and so on...until you can basically just get what you need from one set...I'm just saying...there are a lot of good perks, like the 50% less stagger. and the 10% chance to reflect the damage....ooooohhhhh....and now I just figured out why the Skeever died....*palm to face*...but those aren't the perks I'm talking about...taking all 5 Juggernaut perks, you've pretty much wasted one where. And maybe 2 if you wear a matching set. It's just a bit disappointing for a single player game to say that somebody who went out of their way to spiff up their armor to some ridiculous number doesn't deserve to reap the benefits. I can understand 1 ring...I can understand alchemical Fortify Enchantment...I can understand many of the balancing things found within the game...but putting a cap on something when you have perks that practically expect you to break it...meh. "Yeah....it's all aesthetic beyond 579 :-/ Sorry dudes. Deal." Poopie. I guess I'll stop whining and enjoy everything else about the game. It's still pretty [censored]in' lame though. :banghead:
