1H'd Dragon Kill Animations

Post » Fri Dec 16, 2011 5:57 pm

After about 100 hours of game play and killing countless dragons across several characters I have yet to see a 1 handed kill animation work correctly for dragons. Its the animation where you jump on the dragon's head and stab it a few times. I've tried this with each type of 1 handed weapon and each time its the same result. I jump on the dragon's head and I am actually floating to the side of it stabbing the air. It looks like crap basically and ruins the excitement of kill animation. Does anyone else have problems with kill animations NEVER working correctly?

Yeah, I think Bathesda put too much into making Skyrim feel like Fallout with the execution scenes. Sure some look cool and make it satisfying, but when I just smack to guy in the face and he drops it isn't as satisfying as I hoped. And yes, that is the only 1h execution I've come across. I smack him in the jaw with my sword, jump on his head, and just smack the air around his cheek for like 30sec, and he is dead. The 2h executions are MUCH better though.

It only happens when you are attacking its face, wHich I find is the worst way to face a dragon.

It worked great the first time I did it, I put my orc axe through the dragons skull!! Then the second time I did it I was 3 feet to the left of the dragon. It was hilarious.

though I DID have a reverse decapitation of a bandit. Was hilarious putting my ass on his face, cutting air and seeing his head roll off. Only happenned once though

Same. I don't get it very often, but as best as I can tell, the kill animation is an eye-stab.

Only once have I been not directly on a dragon's head. Idk what you guys are doing to have such an issue with it.

Mine also. In fact, I've never experienced any of the graphic glitches in the finishers folks talk about. Cross my fingers , I've been this lucky with Morrowind, Oblivion and so far , Skyrim.

That's my exact issue, but it stopped being funny after like... 20 times...

I wish you could stab the dragon in the teethridge in first person view when he was about to bite you. It'd have made for a great one hander finisher.

Sometimes the kill animations glitch if you are not close enough when you make the final blow.

I've seen the one-handed kill animations 3 times. Twice by me, once by a guard.

YES, I SAW A GUARD JUMP ON A DRAGON'S HEAD AND STAB IT IN THE FACE. IT WAS AWESOME.

Ok seriously, for the first time in 100+ hours I saw the animation work correctly... literally the same day I post my problems on the forum.

Go figure.

So far 3 of the 4 killing animations I did on a dragon was on the side as well.

Also having problems with throating slitting an enemy from behind in 1st person, my character slashes right above their heads

I just killed my first dragon with melee. War axe animation of several hits worked great.
