Enchanted gear too common?

Post » Fri Dec 16, 2011 10:03 pm

Is enchanted gear seem too common? I kinda understand why, with the new enchanting system, but it still seems like there is a ton of enchanted gear out there.

Also I would like to see more unenchanted rare items. Basically if Bethesda isn't going to make the "rare/special" items with strong enchantments, then I would rather it be unenchanted.

Ie: Drainspell bow: absorbs magica. Really! An archer with an absorb magica, not damage but absorb!

Ie: dragon priest dagger: nothing. Now not a powerful dagger but it is rare and enchantable. I would like to see more stuff like this! It don't even have to have powerfull base stats.

Anyway let me know your guys thoughts!

The real problem is value. Some adept robes easily sell for 500+ gold with no perks in speechcraft. Weapons? Same. I am at level 38, 80000 gold rich and I don't bother to pick up from dungeons anything I don't plan to keep or use anymore.

Enchanted gear was also way too common in Oblivion and Morrowind. Sad that has not been fixed in this game.

I got 300k from enchanting and finding enchanted gear. I say they are way to common.

Perhaps your right, but I know in Oblivion the enchanted items had a chance to be really powerful. Unlike skyrim where enchanted items you find are a joke. And to top it off, you can make better enchanted gear.

I have mixed feelings about this. I don't take enchanting perks at all because they've ruined enchanting imo. I always played a mage in Oblivion and relied heavily on enchanting there as a proper magical art because it was flexible and fun. But they've butchered it and made it boring and simplistic here so the only way I get enchanted items is to buy them or find them. The stuff I pick up is usually, like you guys have observed, pretty useless, although, lol, I"m playing an archer right now, and I've found two or three very powerful enchanted helmets boosting archery related stuff so far and I'm only at level 15 (this is my second character). I think that's kind of overkill, so yeah, it's probably too much, but since there really isn't any thing else to find, I'm glad they're there. The loot in general is boring, but I still love going through every container; I just wish there was more variety to what I find.

I don't agree, but then I am role playing rather than simply going into every dungeon, crypt, cave, etc that I find. :) Actually, I have found very few enchanted items in over 200 hours with 3 characters, and I have very little gold, too.

I guess what I'm saying is. If Bethesda is going to let us have the ability to make powerful enchantments, then give use unique gear that looks different then the regular tier of gear. Like the dragon priest dagger.

I personally don't like finding a really cool looking item only to find out it has a pointless enchantment on it.

I like enchanting, and smithing. But I guess I don't abuse it like others. I like my character to have weaknesses!

Hell my current character could shoot a fly off a mammoths snout without harming the mammoth, but he couldn't swing a sword to save his life. So close combat is really intense and fun. Having a pissed off saber cat pounce on you only to land that final arrow while the saber cat is mid air and go right over your head is exciting!

So I'm not looking for better gear, I just want good looking gear to enchant with stuff usefull to me. Even if it is weaker, or maybe enchantable but not smithable. That's fine too! I just want to look cool! Ya know for RPing

Notice the common availability of enchanting altars.

Heck, the College sells enchanting services, and I'm sure that if it weren't for gameplay/story segregation, the court mages would too since they all seem to have enchanting altars.

There's your reason why enchanted goods are not rarefied.
