What the H-E double hockey sticks is wrong with Aela?

360 here.

It started after getting a totem. She wouldn't leave the alter room, and just kept kneeling instead, even though she would indicate 'let's go' (or some such). After just dismissing her and coming back to Whiterun later, she seemed to be working again. But whenever I go somewhere, she'll just randomly stand still and not follow, even after leaving the area through a loading screen. Sometimes when I come back to find her, she'll come abruptly running. Other times she'll just continue to stand there.

I thought 1.3 would have fixed it, but now it seems worse. :sadvaultboy:

Ah, I had a similar problem. It was with a different follower. He'd just stand around, even after fast-travel, refusing to move. Told him to wait, then re-follow, he still wouldn't move. This was after I got to stage 2? of vampirism. I re-loaded a *much* earlier save, got rid of vampirism, and haven't had any further troubles - but I'm not actually sure if that was the problem. It may have been the abandoned prison dungeon I entered, or any other number of things  Sorry it's probably of no help, just confirming that there's an issue here.

Well, poop. I just fought my first (and only) vampire recently, and she was with me. How do I know if I've been infected? How do I cure it?

Open your magic menu and go to active effects at the bottom. See if there's anything in red. If there is, cure disease. If it's actually vampirism, I think you can ask at taverns for a rumor for a cure...although vampirism is pretty obvious, it has some crazy screen effects when you're infected. ;)

I can't guarantee that this is the problem, however. As I said, I'd done a lot of stuff; that just seemed like the most likely possibility.

Oh cool, thank you! I never noticed that option before.

So...if vampirism is considered a disease, does being a werewolf make you immune like normal diseases?

Yes; also, becoming a werewolf should completely remove vampirism. It's an alternative, but effective, cure (or so I've read).
