Tips for Being an Assassin?

Post » Sat Dec 17, 2011 12:51 am

I am working on:

-Sneak
-Archery
-One Handed
-Light Armor
-Enchanting
-Alchemy

Do any of you have any tips for other skills I should spend points into?

My coworker plays a thief/assassin and he's been using Illusion and LOVES it. Fury and Calm have changed the game for him. Check it out

Illusion can be really useful, if you want to have some magic back up. Looks to me like you have a pretty solid build, though. Personally I get Poisoner from Pickpocketing, but that's really more hilarious than it is useful. Then again, I also don't bother with light armor because I don't like wearing helms so I don't get full-set bonuses, but meh.

imo i wouldn't bother with enchanting, get either db armour or thief guild/nightingale armour(or a nice combo of each to your preference).

i focus on sneak / archery / one handed.
i've yet put any points into armour (i don't think its necessary unless your just looking to use up perks).
alchemy, id just go as far as double poison (unless your just using up perks again).

I find light armour useless in my opinion because the point of being an assassin/thief is to not get hit.

If you're careful, no armor is needed. Nice to have those points elsewhere :)
Illusion is great to have for backup.
Also, as much as I like enchantment, smithing may be more in-character if you decide to avoid magic.

DB Spoiler, I guess:

If you "have" to choose... i'd ditch alchemy in that the potions you can buy are good enough and take smithing for the weapon / armor improvements instead. It will allow more one shot kills with that bow and enchanting will make the poisons feel like "occasional use" items anyway. Illusion can be useful and fun just remember to take dual cating and understand you will need every perk in its tree to keep it useful as you level. I'd keep light armor personally at least for when things go wrong and you need to participate in a heads up fight.

You can get like 80 perk points in total if you max every skill to 100. Most people will never do that in a legit fashion. Start with a 50 point perk plan when looking over your skills. Depending on your play style, you may or may not see more.

7 perks in illusion to make use of invisibility, and the sneak perks.
