Independent exploration above all else. A varied landscape with lots of locations tucked away in it. I still remember stumbling into Hackdirt on my first play through with Oblivion. Finding a settlement like that, particularly with a good quest involved, is a lot of fun. I really hope they don't cave into the "dump all level scaling!" crowd and divide up the game into "zones" that you have to become stronger to visit over the course of the game. Nothing more than imposed linearity.

I just love that feeling early on in the game when you still have an entire world left to discover. A sense of wonder, if you will.

I'd have to say that's probably my fav thing too. My GF can't stand it though. I never quest enough to keep her interest. When they make games so beautiful, it's hard to play the actual game sometime as you get lost in the world.

A big 'wut' to the poll. Major TES instalments are singleplayer games. Apart from crappy companions since when has there been any kind of social aspect to TES?

Seriously... wut.

But my favourite bit about TES is the huge and varied world that allows me to play whoever and however I want.

I didn't see this option in the poll, but what I like most about TES series is the open world aspect of the games.

By "working in a team," do you mean a team of people creating a modding project? I don't understand.

If you didn't answer "neither" because your favorite aspect is the lore you don't know [censored] about vidya gaemz.

So yeah my favorite part is exploring the landscapes.

I assumed he meant the community of gamers who love Elder Scrolls (us) but the working together part doesn't make much sense

I don't think I could choose just one thing. I love the community, exploring in their beautifully created world, and last but not least the lore!

Edit* I forgot to mention the leveling system and the fact that I can do anything I want! (within reason obviously) I love sandbox games and medieval fantasy. Elder scrolls is the perfect baby of the two, and that's why it's my favorite series.

Seeing diverse cultures and races interact between places. Exploring a diverse, yet lush landscape.

But mostly the possibilities!

neither of those options. infact the first option sounds like its angled towards asking for multiplayer - im definitely against any form of that crap invading the game.

i play these games to immerse myself in a fantasy world and explore.

Exploring the beautiful environments, enchanting, spell making, spell casting, discovering unique items, uncovering interesting TES lore and history, quests that test my character (especially boss fights), devastating random street crooks that foolishly attack me out of the blue.

I like the lore and the game's openness, nothing beats exploring a completely open world.

Everything you said up until the last sentence. I'm fully aware if they dumped it completely, it would be commerical suicide on their part. However, you have to understand the frustrations of long term fans of the series and it's something which needs to be addressed. If you could chose at the start of a new game between zonal and level scaling then I suppose everyone would be happy. Make the choice as so you are not allowed to change it mid-game, just like your race, starsign, class.

The freedom to not follow the main quest if I don't feel like it, just explore where I want to go, feel as if my character has a life beyond (or even instead of) saving the day. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy RPGs where the story is laid out in chapters and you progress along the story because there's only so much exploration/questing that you can do per chapter, but Elder Scrolls games are so much more than that.
