Hi- I've been playing Fallout 3 for a little while now, and I recently ran into a game-ending error. I'm in Project Purity, just as the Enclave soldiers come and confront the father. At first I was able to watch the scene in which he overloads the equipment, but then when I followed Doctor Li out of the Rotunda, my game froze. This is the first time this has ever happened to me, so I turned off my console, turned it back on, hit continue, and encountered the same error again. I tried multiple times, always encountering the same error, so I decided to just load from a little while back and begin performing the set up tasks over again. However, again, once the Enclave arrived, I was able to get back into the sub-basemant and take care of the one soldier, but when I went up the stairs and opened the door to the gift shop, the game froze. It happened time and time again. I tried blowing myself up and then doing it, resaving and doing it, I even brought in my disc as being faulty and exchanged it for a new one. However, this solved no problems.

What should I do?

I know this isn't helping you, but i am having the EXACT same glitch happen, except mine happens when your in the pipe just when the Enclave came, i tried going from a different save and that did not work, i tried going from a different save, doing a side quest, and then coming back and that did not work, i tried different day and night cycles and that didn't work, I notice with your example like mine it is going into the "jefferson memorial mueseam and gift shop" level, i hope someone fixes it soon, because i can't adance with the game until this glitch is fixed,

PS: i have fallout 3 game of the year edition and it always seems to freeze at the loading clocks 2 rotation near the 1st or 2nd sector....

I feel so bad for you. This is no fun. I ended up restarting. Hopefully this won't end up with me encountering the same problem once I've leveled my character up, but this time I'll be wiser with my saves and avoid it if I have to.

So I created this account just to talk about this EXACT same subject. I am also having the same problem here. What I want to know is what is being done by betheseda to correct this issue? It seems like the general consensus is nothing is being done and might as well use the fallout game as a frisbee...

Okay, So I was playing Fallout 3, I have the Game Of The Year Addition, and I was trying to escape the Enclave, I thought the doctor went to the Sub-Basemant, and I went down there. When I realized she wasn't down there, I went to the door that leads to the Gift Shop. During the loading screen it got around 2 times then stopped. I got pissed. I tried it different ways about 6 times. Nothing. I was a good amount into the game and my character was good. I had to make a new game. Once I started, saved Megaton, then my stuff started to disappear. What can I do?

EXACT same problem here. I can't re-enter the mail level of Project Purity. AAAGGGHHH!! I'm at level 25 and DO NOT want to start this game over. I tried going back as far as I could with my saves, but it still locks up every time!!!

same thing... been playing for a couple weeks off and on. only got to level 9 but started going back to some of the places i missed...

here is one thing i KNOW to be the cause:
i was in the jury st. station going through the tunnels with dogmeat... got to the end, started heading back and a msg popped up saying "dogmeat has died"?!?! i thought w-t-f??? so i restarted at last auto-save and went to go back out... he died again?!! so i restarted and immediately left the tunnel through a door and dogmeat automatically follows... so i healed him...

it froze when i tried to go back in the tunnel!?!?!

that's where i am guessing the glitch is, the tunnel part thinks dogmeat is about to die but i faked it out quickly and healed him... but now it won't let me back into the tunnel?!?! the problem is the autsave was at the beginning, so it was like i never even go to the end of the tunnel?!!? now i can never go back in and get the items down there?!?! what a crock to have to start over for that... so i am skipping it, i think it was a book i will lose out on...

just like a company to create a NEW version and forget about the others... oh wait, that's exactly what bill gates and steve jobs do with their operating systems?!?!

FROZE AGAIN LAST NIGHT!

... during simple fast travel back to megaton?!?! now what, are we all screwed because they have given up on this game or what?!?!
