Barbas......

Post » Sat Dec 17, 2011 3:07 am

Ok this is my definition of Barbas..... The worst, best companion......

He cant die, he makes a great distraction and he sometimes sits and takes a ton of damage before running.

But on the other hand... He never stops barking and sniffing! He always pushes my character around (even while im talking to people) He has next to nothing for sneak, I swear he can be heard from like 500 meters away, sometimes he will start a fight and then all of a sudden run off and leave me to fight like 6 guys at once... BAHHH he is so bloody annoying!

But for some reason I still have him following me and wont finish his quest

There thats my vent about Barbas.... But I do think its time to finish his quest.... (finally)

That stupid dog has pushed me off a cliff not once, not twice, but three times. He also pushed Lydia into a waterfall (which I admit was actually pretty funny, she survived after all) I had Vigilance before, and he never pushed me around like that; he would stop when I stop and lie down or just sit there but Barbas has doggy ADD or something.

He also pushes your horse so your camera keeps pivoting (the other dogs do that too though), which is not helpful if you're trying to stay out of sight of an enemy while keeping an eye on them so you can dismount. I don't quite understand, I mean if he's portrayed as a dog he should still act like the other dogs right? But I totally agree, he is a great companion sometimes and others you're ready to just get rid of that silly pup.

And, like the other dogs, HE ALWAYS BLOCKS THE DOORWAY!! God forbid I actually go into a room because I will then be stuck in there trying to jump my way through the doorway, which totally takes me out of the game. That's why I got rid of Vigilance and Barbas is even worse.

I really wanted a dog companion and was delighted when I found him.

But....I couldn't stand him. His awful voice, his constant sniffing, blocking doorways, and pushing me out of position (including during conversations!) just annoyed my so much. I had to let him go. :(

How easily do the non-daedric dogs die?

The dog is so annoying I refuse to do the quest again on this replay.

Actually although they had one very good idea for companions (the 'I want you do do something' mode), overall their implementation of all companions is very poor (worse than New Vegas, for sure... horrible interface, no personality) and that damnable dog is INTOLERABLE :brokencomputer:

When I did that quest the first time, he actually tanked a dragon for me. It was great.

Let's just say I was sorely tempted to chop him into kibble at the end of the quest...
