Whic ending do you want to be canon

If the Empire falls, Skyrim definitely will. This is fairly clear-cut. The Thalmor want Ulfric to defeat the Empire solely because he'll be easier pickings afterwards.

Dont think so, the thalmor are already facing a deadlock in hamerfell, and lost all the invading force in the batle of red ring, unless the thalmor found a way to clone each other like the star wars clone army XD, I dont think they are in any position to invade skyrim.

Hrmm, while I support the Empire as a faction (especially with regard to morality), story-wise I'm torn. It has already mostly been taken apart so it certainly won't be the Empire that we've seen so far but Ulfric is such an interesting character that it would be a shame not to see what happens with him in charge of Skyrim.

Stormcloaks. Like him or not, Ulfric Stormcloak has enough history and backstory behind him to make a major motion picture. There is no way they're just going to have him killed off like that. I guarantee that he has a further role to play in the lore, good or bad. Whatever happens, Ulfric will survive the civil war. Remember that this isn't about who you prefer, but who you REALLY think Bethesda will pick. And they don't shy away from picking unpopular and unhappy results. Look at the end of Oblivion, where everything fell apart after it was over. The fact is, a Stormcloak win is more interesting for the story and opens up MANY, MANY possibilities for the future. An Empire victory leaves two - either the Empire bides its time for a few decades and attacks the Thalmor, or it doesn't. Boring. Doesn't make a good story. Isn't going to happen. Get used to your buddy Ulfric, he's going to be around for a while, if the story-writers for the ES games have any sense.

That's how I feel. I don't really care about an independent Skyrim... except I really want to see how it ends up with Ulfric as High King. It's the reason I like to go with the Stormcloaks in the civil war questline. Ulfric is a fascinating character and you don't get to see that on the side of the Empire, it's just, "ULFRIC EVIL KILL HIM." Elder Scrolls lore is better than that.

This.

I think most people are confusing this thread for what they want to be canon. This isn't for your opinion, it's for what Bethesda is likely to choose as canon if they have to.

But that's what the poll says, what do you want to be canon.

Edit: While my preference would be for an Imperial victory (I'd like the majority of my playthroughs to actually count for something), I am somewhat doubting we'll see that happening. Actually, I don't think Bethesda will take either side's victory for canon and if they do it will be purely superficial anyways. My bet is on the Thalmor winning yet again if they aren't adressed in DLC. They seem to have nigh-invincible plot armor and will probably take advantage of the war they instigated to take over more of, or perhaps even all of, Tamriel. That's my guess at the setup of the next game, that the war only destroyed the losing side and weakened the winner, allowing the Thalmor to swoop in and no one cared who really won the Civil War.

I just hope that if the Empire does end up falling, we'll be able to begin it anew under the leadership of a republican system through an Elder Council or a new Divines-blessed Emperor.

Both factions can go die in a fire as far as I'm concerned, but if I had to choose one I would have to go with the Emire. There is just something about Ulfric Stormcloak himself that I just viscerally hate.

So you hate the whole empire but because of one man that could easily be toppled if he was found false in the end you'll damn the whole people for wanting freedom to not be dragged off tortured and killed for thier peaceful beliefs? Sounds fair.

Obviously stormcloaks here, but as above even if any truth comes of what people have read into him comes up the army or most of it could at least dethrone him, of the dragonborn could with a shout that actually tears him to pieces. But for the most part I don't see much truth to the claims of racism and suppression on him part, just a bunch of whiney refugees that destroyed one land and won't lift a finger to save the one sheltering them from that fallout, not even lifting a finger to benefit themselves, just complain and tarnish everyone in a city for not being given a palace each to live in. Yes lady the argornians live down by the water, because they like it. And yes the third of a city you where given is in a bit of disrepair, like the rest of the city is, look that the wheather around you it's not good for ancient stone work, but it's huge and standing and the insult of a name is one I see more evidence you gave it yourself then anyone else as an insult much like how you call your inn a corner club like in isn't a good enough word for you, now stop your whinging for not being treated as a lord when you fled here and take a leaf out of the FAMOUS WELL OFF alchemist...who guess what..is a DARK ELF, a nice home/shop he has too better then most of the other shop keepers, book. Or maybe a leaf out of the book of the HIGH ELF that has moved from the home of the THALMOR and is now doing rather well and made themself useful and connected.

I want and think it should be choosen as canon because, well the empire has had thier run been done now, time for something new be it independant countries or a new ruler, plus I don't think the plan of the empire waiting out to be stronger would or should work out of them, they are becoming weaker and more corrupt for it, more hated and letting or helping the potential allies be killed normally with way to much enthusiasm, the thalmor are weak and spread thin right now, given time like the empire wants they'll grow strong and be firmly placed and running everywhere where all those who may oppose them outside the empire dead others who might have converted and the rest just well paid off enough to not want to go against them.

Stormcloaks!

Have the entire Empire fall to pieces for TES VI, and have no one province strong enough to withstand the next greatest threat. Call the "Imperials" "Cyrodilians". Then perhaps the plot device can be the establishment of a new Empire with a different foundation than Dragonborn Septims with the blessings of Akotash.
