Dissapointed( very minor sppoilers)

Post » Sat Dec 17, 2011 5:37 am

I have the 360 version of the game and on day 1 I was happy. What ever the day 1 patch fixed the only problems i noticed was that any item ment to improve my pick pocketing skill once at 100 would worsen it. I could live with that though.

Then comes the second patch that breaks my bookshelfs, breaks resistances and supposedly makes dragons fly backwards(never saw this one my self). I also found that my thief guild quest "under new managment" was broken (here is a link to that problem and how I was able to fix it http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/615803-the-elder-scrolls-v-skyrim/61289615) , "my blood on the ice" quest was broken( viola giordano wont talk to me just wanders around with a quest marker) and my daggers dont count for "Fortify one handed" enchantments .

Now we have patch number 3 and altough it fixes resistances and the dragons flying backwards it does nothing for my shelfs, quests or pick pocketing. Instead it seems to focus on fixing exploits like the reuseable Oghma Infinium and the Alchemy/Enchant/Smithing loop (to which you "hard" capped ALL skills thus making things like the amulet of Dibella that YOU PUT IN THE GAME useless and to me breaks one of the features of the game because many things are now useless when you get to a certen level)that makes it possable to make mega items and it seems like that choice was based on people "complaining" on how it makes the game to easy. Now i admit to using the Oghma Infinium 2 extra times (3 total) to maxout my smithing but I personally dont use the Alchemy/Enchant/Smithing loop. The game is still challenging and I like it that way.

The choice you made to fix exploits vs bugs is akin to putting a limiter switch on a sports car because people were "going to fast" while the motor in the automatic window that you broke while playing with the electrical system was not fixed and the window couldn't be closed even though it was raining. Please use better judgement when you decide what to "fix". I am now planning on restarting my 126 hour game without ANY patches for my shelfs and the LIGITIMENT use of items.

thank you and have a nice day

I get that dealing with huge heaps of code can and tweaking parts of it can lead to screw ups in other places. But, c'mon, this is getting to be ridiculous. I'm going to update to 1.3 later today, but if the bugs prove to be too much to bear I'm just going to clear my cache and revert to 1.0.

for those who agree please bump it, maybe keeping it at the top of the list will get the mod's and the devs attention.

I was playing on the 360 when i got bumped off live and then was prompted to DL a 4MB deal. Was that the so called patch? As for the other things I have no idea about. Picked up the Prima guide today however and man is that thing thick!

well one thing that i found not so disappointing as amusing was shooting and npc through the head with arrows and the arrows would still be there but it would do the same amount of dmg as shooting them in the leg, they should have definitively done somethings like fallout.

A lot of people complained that using the alchemy/enchanting loop was possible to create gamebreaking equipment (like someone forced them at gunpoint to do it), then Bethesda fixes this and people still complain?

While I AGREE that the list of bug is very long and probably other things should have been prioritized, I don't see why fixing exploits is a bad thing. It DOES remove some of the complaining from these boards, so it must be good :).

Oh, they fixed the alchemy/smithing/enchanting loop? o.O Wasnt mentioned in patch notes, but i suppose i'll believe ya :D Enchanting and smithing's quite enough for me though. Alchemy is a total ass to level up.

If this had any kind of online component like multi player or ranking boards i might be inclined to agree with you msxyz but like you said no ones forcing people to cheat so all they have done is try and make you play by the rules that affect no one but the player who does cheat. On the other hand by not fixing quest and other bugs the whole comunity suffers. Its like a ref saying no traveling in B-ball but the ball is half flat.
