Amazing detail. Not I'm tired of elder dragons biting my head off though. Lol

Cheers

They are weak, but it's probably because I play on Adept or a lower difficulty or my charcter is overpowered.

Pretty much sums it up for me..

(Why am not like 99% of the rest who (probably) lies and play on hardcoe mode? Cause i dont use ANY magical equipment thats why:P )

The dragons are too numerous and weak...like cliff racers. There's no choosing what Shout Powers to Unlock when I can easily just unlock them all with this many Dragon Souls.

Expert difficulty.

To all you saying the dragon fights are unremarkable, short and boring:

I think the dragon fights are great. But I'm not sitting here expecting the game to do every [censored] thing for me. I'm not expecting the game to just pick me up from my feet and swoop me away with its awesomeness, no. Because It can't. It can't do everything alone. I have to spend a little effort into making the moments great. The game gives you an opportunity and you can choose to try and live yourself into it and make it epic yourself. Or you can stand there and get blasted with dragonfire out in the open and chug a million potions and whack it until It's dead.

First of all, I make sure my character is not overpowered. I make sure I play at a fitting difficulty. I use dramatic camera movements and I pretend that I'm really there, in that fight, beeing in awe of this great magnificent beast that is soaring above me.
I use the environment to my advantage. I use the right shouts to set the atmosphere if I can ( Like Storm Call) I time my staggering attacks until the moment is right ( Before the dragon starts to breathe) And I allways try to evade incoming dragonfire, dodging just at the right moment, seeing it blast past me. It really gets the heart pumping if you get everything right and if the fight turns out to be hard. The feeling of standing over this dragon absorbing its soul after the epic moment you created yourself with the help of the game, is simply fantastic.

I recall a poster stating in a thread like this that it's the first time non-scripted dragons have been implemented in a game of this nature. As such I tended to agree that for a first try I'm pretty happy.

I could pick holes but overall I think they did well.

The Dragon encounters in this game are epic at best. When they come crashing down to the ground and stumble you its a humbling experience. And i also love it when you injure one in mid air and they crash and deform the ground. At night is really a treat when you see one off in the distance breathing it's fire or speaking in dragon. This just never ceases to thrill and amaze me. :foodndrink:

Adept, I love dragons.
Thief, got lots of perk into pickpocket/lockpicking (RP reasons) and stealth, my only combat skill which I really invested into is archery, so yeah I ignored smithing/enchanting to keep it very intresting, and it is... Long hard fights, shouts are my greatest ally!

I am not sure about this, but it seems as the dragons increase in rank, so does their aggressiveness and responsiveness.

Dragons will fly around for a while, never really shouting down on you and when they land they don't advance quickly.
Ancient dragons on the other hand will shout down on you, land more rapidly and advance quickly.

Overall I think dragons were done wonderfully. I think the ancient dragons could be more maneuverable (like walking while shouting), but overall they're pretty awesome.

Even if dragon scales, so does the rest of the world so it's still possible to assist to some hilarious scenes. Who needs a Dovakhin? People (and animals) of Skyrim are pretty capable of fending off dragons by themselves.

Mammoths is the new cool thing to have in a fantasy game :shocking:

They are great when I fought them at the start. When I found a random one, everything was good. The sound of their shriek was great, the ground shaking as they flew over was great, etc.

But like all things, once you have fought a lot of them, they start to get annoying and monotonous.

I also don't like reading on the forums that dragons can lose to a mere humans. I saw a fire adept kill one easily. Maybe a master vampire can kill one easily, but who is a fire adept?

Where is the option for "They are annoying and I want them gone"

I hate random dragon encounters, I'm using the console to stop it and it works fine, thank god.

To me they're just annoying.

I'm not the sort of person who gets excited about either dragons, or fancy special effects... so before even playing the game I knew they were never going to have the same impact on me as other people. What I did expect however was for them to be a lot more challenging. Even the weakest ones should've been unbeatable (without lots of help) until around level 20... and Alduin should've been a lot tougher.

They were also far too frequent for my liking. At one point fairly early on in the game, I encountered at least 5 in a row minutes after one another just walking from Whiterun to The Reach. My character, who was rather weak at the time dispensed of them comfortably, which completely undermined the idea of them being powerful and dangerous enemies... and after the 3rd one I was sick of them.

Really annoying, as I thought they would be. I wish they went away after the main quest.

Visually, the dragons are stunning. I don't much care for dragons and don't really feel that they belong in Elder Scrolls, but there were about two Dragons in Dragon Age: Origins and neither of them were anywhere near as visually stunning as the various set-piece dragon battles in Skyrim (the ones that occur in specific places, that is, rather than the random landscape ones.

In terms of battle mechanics, the snag is that the game had to be scripted so that you can kill the dragons reliably with any character, so it's okay that the actual fights are a bit trivial, and I think that the dragons could have been quicker to land, because waiting for them is a major pain.

But ... I'd much rather kill a dragon than close an Oblivion gate.

I wanted to vote for "They are easy and I play on a higher difficulty" but despite that being the case now it certainly wasn't the case in the beginning. Besides, that option doesn't really express how I feel about Dragons in Skyrim and that would be that "They are great, I love them(Higher difficulty)."

They're great, but could be better.
Basic dragons suffer from the "leveling syndrome" and even if they're challenging on Master, bears/sabrecats and other non-leveled creatures are harder and own them @ lower levels.
Starting from Frost dragons, things change and they become harder and more powerful, killing giants and wildlife (and me :D) with ease.

Anyway, as I say, they could be better so I'm currently planning a mod for when the CK comes out...
