Patch did nothing

Post » Thu Nov 05, 2009 8:10 pm

Before the patch for the problem I was having was that after the initial cut scene the game would freeze on the load screen causing me to hard reboot my PS3. This happened every time. I even took the game back and exchanged it for another one. No different results. I just installed the patch low and behold the game still freezes on the initial load screen to get to even play the game. Is there a way to delete the game from the hard drive without having to format the entire hard drive. Maybe if I reinstall the game and download the patch it would work. Any suggestions?

That would probably be ideal. It sounds like it might be a hardware issue, maybe even a version of your PS3 hardware if you tried two different copies of the game on it. I've seen a lot of people talk about bugs, but this is the first I've heard of anyone not even being able to play the game period. Try reinstalling the game WITH the patch, and see if that solves the problem. Otherwise, I would just suggest buying a different version (PC version if you have a good enough PC).

man that really svcks... Are you running the latest 1.50 firmware? Also, check if you have enough drive space i.e. >1GB just in case for sufficient caching.

From the Fallout option menu, turn off auto save and minimize/turnoff all options to reduce any potential overhead when loading the game....

From the PS3 system settings, disconnect from the internet or signout of PSN, stuff like this...

Worth a try , good luck man.

WTF well got the game working yesterday and played it for about 20 and it froze three times. Then I tried to play it today just by going to continue on the main menu and gee wouldn't you know i'm having the problem I started out with. I guess my only option is to delete the game and try again. This is the most annoying FUBAR situation i've ever had in with a game. I've heard nothing but good things about the actual game play and I loved FO3. What a waste of a good game with such problems. Bethesda you should be ashamed of yourselves and you should send everybody who purchased this game a personal apology.

Do you have a PS3 fat or the slim? I have a slim and it freezes once in a while, but I notice one of my friends who has the PS3 fat had way more problems than me.

You know, i′m seeing a pattern here. It seems that every time someone deletes the previous install and install it again and patch it, it seems to work wonders. I could be wrong and if so, please, provide your experience with it.
