possible fattening of the game

Post » Sat Dec 17, 2011 10:45 am

1. more age groups (babies and teenagers for example) would help make the cities look a little less empty
2. theater guild/traveling company of actors (could perform in towns and in castles) would mean more things to do in towns and a chance for TES to show off its ridiculously extensive lore
3. more interactions with spouses (a hug or a kiss animation, possibly? or more dialogue options)
4. more houses (either by adding versions of already available houses in terms of price range/quality or by adding more houses in towns that don't currently offer permanent housing)
5. garden/water plants indoors and outdoors
6. clothier (similar to smithing (and will have its own animation)) with a larger variety of clothes available for creation
7. added animations that already exist for npcs (like eating and playing instruments) for the player
8. better "pet" system (by which I mean a more stable way of keeping dogs at home)
9. ability to write (keep notes, books, journals etc by collecting scrolls of paper and other ingredients or by purchasing blanks from npcs)
10. a non fast-travel option for carriage rides. (I really enjoyed the carriage ride that occurs at the beginning of the game and always thought it would be nice to experience something similar again)

More dynamic quests. Being able to kill the thieves guild and save Riften?

I definitely think these all would be great ideas, especially giving player characters animations NPCs use, like playing an instrument or waving a flagon around drunkenly, and also a Clothier skill. I'd love for my mage to be able to make his own robes, especially robes that are difficult/impossible to obtain in-game, like various hooded robes or psijic robes and whatnot. I also think there should be an ability for crafting magical staves...

I personally love the carriage idea. well and all the others. I wish alcohol had an effect on vision so while i was in the tavern I could feel part of the scene

Emma made a Children of Morrowind mod that added babies, kids and teens to the world, complete with fun animations for the kids (some would even walk and balance on walls, swaying and waving their arms for balance).

and that was Morrowind. In time, Skyrim mods should beat anything Morrowind had. At least I hope.

Spell Creation

Acrobatics

variables that were affected by attributes in previous games that are not present in Skyrim

H2H as a skill with its own perks

Degradation that takes the same materials to upgrade as it does to repair

A whole lot more spell effects from previous games

I tried to think of additions to the game that wouldn't require too much arduous programming
but I do agree that it would be nice to be able to influence the world/towns like riften in more ways than are currently provided

yeah I don't see why they can't just use the same animations to give to the player..
and I also figured if you can make maces and steel plates then why not clothes and robes?

I think it would get a bit complicated if the carriage runs into bandits or wolves, but that would just make things more interesting.
I know a drinking contest quest at riften made me black out from drinking too much but it would be nice to have similar effects/blurred vision from drinking normally.

that's interesting. I didn't even imagine that someone could mod something like that...
hopefully the same could happen for skyrim if Bethesda (probably) won't.

I know several mmorpgs have degradation but it'd be interesting to see that in skyrim.
also, I know people miss a ton of aspects of the game from previous TES games
but bethesda knowingly put them out of skyrim so I thought it'd be almost pointless to put that in this thread.
not saying I wouldn't want them, though.

oh and I'd really appreciate it if anyone could point me in the direction of a mod that does any of the 10 items I mentioned.

I'm going to stick a cork in Skyrim's butt and just keep feeding it and [censored]in' feeding it and [censored]in' feeding it until it gets so fat, it explodes.

These are all great ideas. I especially like the traveling entertainers and the ability to keep a journal. I usually play my characters for several years, would be nice to keep some sort of roleplay log.

thanks :D
yeah, so much happens over several hundred hours of playing a single character
that it's really easy to forget a large portion of what's happened..
plus it'd be fun to become a writer yourself and spread copies of your books everywhere :disguise:

1. more age groups (babies and teenagers for example) would help make the cities look a little less empty

Nods to Holycannoli, yes, that is a good mod that shows the potential of it in game. I don't think it would be a bad idea at all and would like to see kids become a bigger part of the world then they are now..

2. theater guild/traveling company of actors (could perform in towns and in castles) would mean more things to do in towns and a chance for TES to show off its ridiculously extensive lore

It would be a nice touch. I would actually like to see an option to becoming a patron of a theater (or something else) or something of that nature (part of my "Moneybag DLC" wish).

But I had never thought of an actors guild or something of that nature. I think there could be some real potential there - of course there are a number of factions/guilds I'd like to see pop up at some point (Vampires, Forsworn, Necromancers, East Empire Company, Thalmor...) but theater guild - yeah, I really like that idea.

3. more interactions with spouses (a hug or a kiss animation, possibly? or more dialogue options)

Definitely more dialogue options.

4. more houses (either by adding versions of already available houses in terms of price range/quality or by adding more houses in towns that don't currently offer permanent housing)

I'm not personally to interested in more houses. I'd like more upgrades or something with the existing ones (maybe contract a guild to make an upgrade based on character play style - get the mages or thieves to come and add something special).

Personally I'd like to see something "next step up-ish" if you get to a point where you have the money in game for it - a castle/boat/fortress (with associated quests, upgrade options and the like). Or let us build/rebuild a town. Helgen needs some TLC. Or even a farm.

5. garden/water plants indoors and outdoors

I liked the option of this since Morrowind. It seems like something my Televanni mage character would do - have a garden of herbs and alchemical plants. But decoration options are nice.

6. clothier (similar to smithing (and will have its own animation)) with a larger variety of clothes available for creation

Not sure, initially I'd just like more clothes, But it could be interesting.

7. added animations that already exist for npcs (like eating and playing instruments) for the player

Would be good.

8. better "pet" system (by which I mean a more stable way of keeping dogs at home)

Yes, and more pet options. It doesn't even have to be something I'd take with me adventuring.

10. a non fast-travel option for carriage rides. (I really enjoyed the carriage ride that occurs at the beginning of the game and always thought it would be nice to experience something similar again)

That would be nice indeed.

Agreed, it is a great game.

I have some of my "wouldn't it be cool" wishes in my sig. I'd like a couple more factions (or as many as Bethesda want to give us, I wont say no to many) - I mentioned some here already.

Would love some more vampire content (quests, factions etc). Would love giant content - they are intelligent (but primitive), I'd like to befriend them, help them, protect them, anything. If you have quests giants I would like to do them for you (I've learned the dragons language - a bit - I'm sure I could learn giant). Anything more with the Forsworn (especially being on their side) I would love.

Stuff for money at high levels (of wealth) - mentioned some here. Things to buy, things to improve (guilds/cities you have a stake in for example), things to sponsor or become a patron of (like the orphanage or a theater - our money/decisions making it better or worse).

Yes, such a great game, and with so much potential for things yet to come!

Yeah I kinda like the suggestions in this thread. I like options, streamlining is my enemy. I did not enjoy Fable.

It could be a big change to the vanilla game, but I would like to see more guild rivalry return (if not in Skyrim with official DLC then in future TES games).

Some guilds/factions it would make sense to be mostly neutral, could theoretically be joined by anyone, but others should just be against each other.

Take the illegal guilds - you can eventually be head of them, and be right up theire in the Legion (and if you have finished the DB...). If we don't want to go down a path where advancing in one faction/guild means attacking another (though I don't know why anybody wouldn't want that) I think it would make sense to have two approaches to some guilds - a join option and a destroy option.

But yes, I agree with those suggestions.

I do think there is a lot more to be done with the vampires in this game. it's one thing to be able to become one
and another to be able to really live as one and have a distinct lifestyle.
I also think the giants are an interesting group and it's almost a shame that all you can do is watch them roam around or kill them.

All this stuff is well within the scope of stuff created for Oblivion and Morrowind. Some of it seems pretty simple and could pop up soon after the Creation Kit is released. All good ideas. I would stipulate though that you would have to be able to be able to get on and off the carriage at will. That would be awesome.
