I feel I didn't praise the dialogue system enough.

We have debated a lot over the lacking dialogue branches, character disposition and usefulness of speechcraft. The general lack of options in quests and dialogues and the emotionless NPC miens. Which are all fair points to make.

But I can't thank Bethesda enough for the visual implementation of the dialogue in Skyrim.

The current industry-standard seems to be the terrible system where the camera locks on to the face of the NPC or your character, and you have to listen to heaps of uninteresting babble without any means of escape. It takes you out of the game, and the forced camera change is annoying is hell. I can't stand any BioWare games because of this (and they even sell it as a feature in their new MMO, leaves me speechless), and a lot of other recent RPGs (e.g. Witcher 2) work the same way.
I'm so glad Bethesda returned to the old approach with Skyrim, I hope the industry learns a few lessons from Bethesda in this case.

Just to say something positive once in a while.

I dont dont know, I prefer the "zoom" over the "Ah I see you are talking with the Jarl about saving the town but I really have to tell you that I lost my virginity the other day, also my aunts parrot just died, in Riften" style.
If they change that it could be better then the "zoom" style though.

I love it too. If I don't want to listen to an NPC anymore, I can just hit B and walk away. Even if it's a Thief threatening my life; in which case they even interrupt themselves with, "Don't you walk away from me!"

Nothing is better than treating an inconsequential little man exactly the way I see him and just walking away as if he didn't exist... and then decapitating him in one blow when he tries to attack me. :D

I like the cinematic dialogues in more linear games like Dragon Age, Mass Effect and The Witcher because I don't play those games for immersion as much as for story telling.

But in a game like Skyrim I agree that would feel really out of place.

I like the new system. It's great interrupting people who are talking as well, the Jarl in Whiterun doesn't take any crap though. He'll snap "not now!" at you xD

I approve this message. I just wish there was a few more comic relief moments with the speech. Like in fo3 when your a kid. If you made the right conversation choices you could spit on the sweetroll and them hand it to the bully. I laughed my ass off for an hour. I don't want a silly tes, just a few moments like that.

I agree. The system's great even though the contents needed more work.

I would also like to add my agreement to this :) Prefer it so much over Oblivion's 'ZOOM, I'M TWO INCHES FROM YOUR FACE!' thing.

I will concur here. The fact that the game doesn't freeze when you talk to people is a huge step forward for the gaming industry generally. Even when Bethesda falls a little flat with a feature, they usually do manage to do something fresh with it.

What I would like that they had done with it, though, is this. Instead of just tabbing out of a conversation to end it, I would love for there to have been some sort of snarky options added into the dialogue tree as well, just so you can thumb your nose at the person if you want to. Usually our options only consist of 1, pre-selected dialogue choice, or tab out.

Honestly, it didn't even occur to me to just tab out of a conversation until quite a ways into the game. If there had been "yea whatever, goodbye" option present all along, it may have been more clear. No matter how good a job Bethesda does with some features of their games, there will always be some value in adding more, so I will never stop short of pushing for that.

Yea, only problem is when a [censored] bystander goes in between you and the one you're talking with and it still becomes a 'ZOOM, I'M TWO INCHES FROM YOUR FACE!' thing. But with someone you're not even talking to.

Your post seems reasonable and positive. You must be trolling.

Anyway, I agree

Yay for some positives! I do much prefer this over Oblivions as well......I swear I was so close to some of their faces I could smell the hound meat on their breath. I kind of wished that if you walked away they would say something like "fine, walk away, maybe you can try again when you get some manners." or something like that. Though speaking of dialogue and manners.....they should also teach the npc's some of those since they have an awful habit of all trying to talk over eachother, I mean I know im popular being the dovahkiin and all but sheesh people calm down, single file.
