Creating Conan

Post » Sat Dec 17, 2011 1:29 am

Hi folks,

I decided to create a Conan character but wanted to go with the Jason Momoas version rather than Arnolds as he looks cool in the 2011 movie and fits the description of Conan from the books more than Arnold does.
In terms of behaviours and actions etc I'm going to go with the book version rather than the movie version and I've more or less worked out what 'class' I plan on playing with him.
The problem I'm having is creating his appearance. I tried today and failed miserably, I just can't get it to look like Momoa. I looked around online and found some guides for creating Conan but they were the Arnold version.
Have any of you created the Momoa Conan or know of where I could find a guide online somewhere?
I tried looking for Khal Drogo creation guides which I'd then adapt to Conan (both being played by the same guy) but couldn't find any of those either.
Thank for any help guys

If no one has helped you by tomorrow, I will sit down and try my hand at creating a likeness. If I manage something passable, I'll upload it to the Nexus.

Why don't you make a Robert E. Howard version of Conan? Conan was quite intelligent, scheming, cunning, and opportunistic. Pay no attention to the illustration, just read the story

He was nearly sinister appearing instead of handsome

I really want to create Jason Mamoa's character from Game of Thrones, Khal Drogo. I just can't figure out the eyes and the skin tone. But dual-weilding barbarian will be awesome.

Ah. I can screencap the sliders then so you can recreate it yourself. Biggest thing is going to be if there is a suitable hairstyle to work with.

Thats very kind of you but I'm on PS3.

This is pretty much my back up plan, using Howards description to make a Conan. I decided I wanted to play a Conan character after reading some of Robert E. Howards story and was using the Momoa version just as a physical appearance.

EDIT:

Myrrh That's very generous, thanks a lot

Playing a barbarian type is cool :toughninja:

It`s a shame it`s not the arnold version (my fave i admit) as it`s real easy as the base is something like default face 3 on the Nord.
Momoa has that dark brooding look, which is closer to the Robert E Howard character I admit (plus he had black hair in the books), so I can understand why you want his features. Hope you can figure it out :)

I`m having a blast with my Arnie lookalike Nord who only uses a sword, light fur armor (the naked chest version and smithed to legendary) block, but no archery. No ranged ability also really adds to the challenge.
Looks awesome with red war paint across the eyes as it makes the char look even more barbaric :D

-2 handed, Conan favorite style
-Light armor, he was a traveler, never had big heavy apparel on him.
-Sneak, always sneaking in dungeons and other places when he was looking for loot.
-Speech, he could sometimes trick people and bargain the prices.

That's how I remember the Conan I 've read when I was younger, also maybe add Smithing, I think he knew some stuff about it, (his father in the Arnold movie I think).

I was going to read the op then it occurred to me that Arnold = Conan. Anything else is just nonsense. Even remakes.

Even if that Conan didn't have much to do with the one in the novels? The Momoa one is more respectful in that aspect.

Here he is as a High Elf. I wish there was a redder skin tone to pick. This didn't take too long, if you like it I can share the sliders.

Had more time to play today, made him with an Imperial. I didn't really like the hair that matched the Conan look so the pic is with hair more similar to http://www.beyondhollywood.com/tv/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/Game-of-Thrones-TV-Show-Promo-32.jpg.

You had better use the Slow Motion shout a lot then, because the 2011 Conan seemed to have the ability to jump around the screen pointlessly while off-screen enemies seemingly sat stationary waiting to be killed.
