My point is to talk about the Towers, the stones and the Elder Scrolls, since Skyrim is changing things a little bit. Now we all now that the towers are to give Nirn divinity. The first tower Adamantine was created by Akatosh himself, since it was his vessel when he first traveled to Mundus. When they left the mortal plane they left the Tower behind. The Stone of this Tower is the Impossipoint, some methaphysical stuff I don't get. But the Gods did also create another Tower; Magnus threw Lorkhans heart onto earth to create a high vulcano, all known to as the Red Mountain. The Stone is Lorkhans heart (duh!).
But now it gets a little tricky. According to Sermon Zero, Aldmeris split up to become lesser submer. This separation was triggered by their very own interest to create a Tower for themselfes (since Mer wanted their immortality back). So every Mer-subrace created a tower for themselfes. The difference between those Towers were their purposes:
1. Numidium, created by the Dwemer, using Lorkhans heart and later the Mantella as it's stone. Purpose: undoing of the creation (what does that even mean?)
2. White-Gold, created by the Ayleids, using the Chim-et-Abal (Amulett of kings) as stone. Purpose: the entire race wanted to reach CHIM (see below)
3. Falinesti, created by the Bosmer, Stone and purpose are unknown yet
4. Crystal tower, created by the Altmer, Stone and purpose are unknown yet (but I assume it has something to do with [censored] all other races)
5. High Hrothgar, "created" by the Falmer, stone and purpose are unknown yet (see below)
6. Orichalc, purpose, architects and stone is all unknown
To White-Gold it is to say that the Ayleids created (according to Nal-Hutta) a wheel within a wheel. So if the Adamantine tower is a higher tower and the Red Mountain is an echo tower, it would make the "created" towers all lesser towers. One of this lesser towers though means business as it has it very own sub-lesser towers (talking about the Imperial city).
Up to this point, this is all "old news" and was known even before Skyrim was announced. But now things have changed.
High Hrothgar is the only other mountain functioning as a Tower. I cannot see how this was constructed by anyone. I don't see how Falmer or even Chimer (we don't know) built a mountain like Egyptians built pyramids. I don't think this is possible. Also there is this "only half here"-issue that keeps bothering me. It was told that one part of the mountain would remain hidden since it is beyond Mundus in some other sphere. Now I neither see nor hear anything about that. Then there is also that Stone-thing.
Since the Red Mountain contained a living stone (yep, the heart was still beating), it is shown that a Stone must not be a 'thing' (a Tower must not be a tower too). Now some people say that maybe Alduin is the Stone of High Hrothgar. This would makes sense since he is part of Akatosh as Lorkhans heart is a part of Lorkhan. The Dragonborn did not absorb Alduins soul; it returned to Akatosh. The same thing (is claimed) to happen to Lorkhans heart. The body was destroyed, the energy leaves the mortal plane (sounds a lot like Daedra).
Then there is also that Elder Scrolls thing. The Scrolls were never really important to the games even though they gave them their title. Till Oblivion we never even saw one. But now this has changed as the Elder Scrolls do not only foretell the future but also can "do stuff". In some other thread there was the assumption that the Elder Scrolls were the manifestation of Creatia since they were stored in the highest-lesser Tower White-Gold. If thats the truth they are the most powerful thing in all Mundus. I do wonder now... if it only needs a Tower and a Stone to break the dragon... what could a Elder Scroll do? A Stone is just a device like a car key to power up a Tower like a car. But what matters is the Creatia.
This leads to one very question: since the three heroes were not Mages and therefore did not understood what they were dealing with and the fact that they had a TOWER, a (possible) STONE and a freaking ELDER SCROLL. Why didn't the blow up all Nirn or even become halfgods like the Tribunal?
