My house in Riften won't let me put books on the top shelf... curious. Am I missing something?

Sometimes the bookshelves are 'sticky'- you're hovering over the empty shelf but the game thinks you're still 'looking' at the full one. I move in and out and cursor over it from different angles until it works.

Location. Location. Location.

On a more serious note, basically you have to do it like Fable. Adjusting your position and angle in a correct manner and hope for the best when you press the button.

Also, if you attempted the book duping glitch. then effectively your bookcase is now "broken" due to a temporary patch by Bethesda until the glitch can be removed. I have seen several topics concerning this all over the net. It basically does not allow you to use your bookshelf again if have placed a book on it and then quickly removed it shortly after.
