point distribution @ lvl up

Post » Sun Dec 18, 2011 8:42 am

I'm reading that u don't want to spend too many points on any skill because u can make up for it with books and bobbleheads but I think this is confusing as hell. I'm just trying to put points into skills I'll use but I don't want to waste points if I'm gonna get books that get me to 100 anyway.

can someone please try ad explain what the guides want me to do with my lvl up points and if u think I should actually follow the guides strategy for pt distribution ?? thx all.

You won't waste skill points. The higher you intelligence SPECIAL, the more skill points you have to distribute upon level. At level three (I think) you can take a perk that grants 3 extra skill points on level. Each Bobble head adds 10 skill points to the skill it represents. There are 20 Bobbleheads in the wasteland, 13 represent the 13 skills, repair, speech, barter, ect., and the other 7 represent the SPECIAL stats, which add 1 to each stat that they represent. Fallout 3 made it, with Broken Steel, that you should have most skills maxed out by level 30, even without bobble heads or skill books.

Skill books provide a permanent +1 to the skill it represents, with the Comprehension perk, it is a permanent +2.
